A new era for 100 Thieves, which jumped into the peripherals business with the acquisition of Higround, a technology hardware company specializing in design-forward gaming keyboards. To drive the initiative, Higround recently hired former HyperX executive Baron Lee to lead the company’s product development. Higround will maintain the brand identity and operate independently, offering products like collectible gaming keyboards and keycaps while 100 Thieves will serve as an accelerator to support Higround to elevate gaming culture and reach a growing audience. To kick off the collaboration, 100 Thieves and Higround will launch a special product capsule for their community that consists of a custom keyboard, jelly bag, and hoodie.

The International 10 kicked off this week on a high note,

Epic Games opened the doors to a new Fortnite Champion Series competitive event titled the FNCS Grand Royale running in November with $5 million up for grabs via online competition in North America, Europe, Asia, Brazil, the Middle East, and Oceania. The Grand Royale will deliver a new format that will take place across two separate weekends; the first weekend from Nov. 11-14 will be reserved for the qualifying stages, while the second weekend runs Nov. 19-21 for the Finals. To move on, teams have up to 10 matches to earn as many points as possible, where they will land on either the Victory Path for the top 33 teams, while the remainder take the Reload Path.
Red Bull revealed Red Bull Kumite Las Vegas, the first-ever North American entry into the fighting game tournament series running November 13 – 14. Grammy Award winner Lil Nas X teamed up with 100 Thieves to create a new hype video to celebrate the 2021 League of Legends World Championship with the video featuring a compilation of Lil Nas X’s hits “That’s What I Want” and “Industry Baby.” The “Worlds” Hype Video was shot in LA on October 3 and features 100 Thieves’ JhbTeam dancing around the 100 Thieves Cash App Compound with visions of Lil Nas X performing inside the LCS Championship trophy.
Launch Esports, a joint venture between esports tournament software and management company Mainline and Steel Planet Esports, announced the full schedule of its roster of Division II, Division III, NAIA, and community college conferences and universities, totaling over 180 schools. “We’re excited for our fall season and league play already underway which has been a great experience for both our athletes and corporate [partners/sponsors],” said KCAC Commissioner Dr. Scott Crawford. “We look forward to announcing our conference and title champions later this fall.”

The release of New World was felt across the entire gaming and live streaming industry. While the game’s initial closed beta launched in late July, the full release of the game came in September. Although viewership of the beta remained prevalent, the spike in audiences upon full release was massive. So how did New World’s emergence affect the audience of other top MMORPG titles?

Riot Games’ Wild Rift Esports North America named Verizon as its inaugural brand partner. Verizon recently served as the presenting partner of the 2021 Wild Rift Summoner Series Last Chance Qualifier and is set to take up the same role for the Summoner Series Finals, which will determine who represents NA at the upcoming Horizon Cup for the title of global Wild Rift Champion. Verizon will be presenting partner of the Trophy Lift Moment. “Mobile gaming has shown tremendous potential for esports growth,” said Matt Archambault, Head of Esports Partnerships for NA & OCE at Riot Games. “Verizon is a proven leader in the mobile space, and we’re proud to partner with them to help expand the footprint of Wild Rift esports in North America.”
G4 will officially return to consumers on linear television and through streaming services on Nov. 16 on the channel lineups of Verizon Fios, Cox, and Xfinity TV. The network will also stream on Philo and collaborate with Twitch on a multi-year promotional and commercial partnership through G4’s official Twitch channel. UW’s move to grow its esports offerings is a trend that is increasing significantly within institutions across North America. Team Liquid and Hercules Tires are teaming up, starting Oct. 20 with the Hercules Tires Invitational Series, a two-part event “enabling top-tier talent to further showcase their drive and skillset.” The competition will showcase 16 of North America’s most popular Rocket League teams.
Wisdom Gaming locked in a long-term strategic partnership with Mall of America,

Call of Duty announced its upcoming anti-cheat initiative, titled Ricochet, which will now be required to play Call of Duty: Warzone on PC. The Ricochet anti-cheat effort serves as a multi-faceted approach to combat cheating, offering new server-side tools that scan analytics to identify cheating, as well as upgraded investigation processes to remove cheaters, updates to strengthen account security, and more. Ricochet’s backend anti-cheat security features will launch alongside Call of Duty: Vanguard, and later this year with the Pacific update coming to Call of Duty: Warzone.
