Sunday’s second season premiere of Universo’s first original scripted series, El Vato, delivered 96,000 total viewers and 68,000 A8-49, according to Nielsen. The premiere episode grew +30% in Total Viewers and +36% among A18-49, vs. season 1, and the premiere ranked as the No. 1 program in Spanish-language cable at 10p among A35-49.
Oxygen Media’s The Disappearance of Natalee Holloway debuted as the net’s highest-rated true crime series premiere, with a cumulative 1.1 million total viewers on its Saturday, August 19, premiere night.
Crown Media Family Networks capped off a successful month with Hallmark Channel’s annual “Summer Nights” programming event boosting the network to be the highest-rated among Households and Total Viewers in the 9-11p time period all month long.
In syndication, Dr Phil (2.8, up 33% from last year) won the talk race for a milestone 50th straight week and grew the most of any talker from last season; Crime Watch Daily (0.9, up 13%) and The Doctors (0.8, up 14%) are only other shows besides Dr Phil in the category that moved up. Judge Judy (6.7, up 8%) hit a 13-week high, drawing more than 9.5 million daily viewers and ruling all syndication for 10th time in 11 weeks (with two ties), and Hot Bench (2.3, up 5%) saw a 10% annual increase.

EXECUTIVE MOVES
ITV America is expanding its in-house production group ITV Creative, with the promotion of Jordana Hochman, who has been upped to EVP/head of East Coast programming, and hiring of Jason Carey as EVP/head of West Coast programming. Hochman transitions to ITV Creative, having played several key roles at Leftfield Entertainment, Loud TV and Leftfield Pictures. Carey joins ITV America from Red Bull Media House where he was head of original programming, U.S. Additionally, ITV America veteran Tonko Soljan has been promoted to SVP, business affairs for ITV Creative.
Dale Hopkins has been named president/CEO of on-demand programming company iN Demand. She will relocate to the company’s NY headquarters from LA. Hopkins joins from Game Show Network, where she held multiple roles during her more than eight-year tenure, including EVP Distribution and CMO.
Warner Bros. promoted Adam Presser to SVP, International at Warner Bros Entertainment. Previously VP International, Presser will help grow Warner Bros’ businesses in China, including the production of Chinese-language and co-produced TV shows, films and web series.
