JP Bommel was named Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of NATPE//Content First, effective in September. Bommel was previously Vice President of Business Development for Reed Midem. As announced in March, President and CEO Rod Perth is leaving his position in February 2016, and joining the board of directors of the non-profit.
Cineflix tapped Dave Hamilton as Executive Vice President, Development. Hamilton, who previously was an exec at Endemol USA and most recently SVP at Leopard USA, will be responsible for unscripted programming across all platforms.
WNET, parent company of New Yorks public TV stations THIRTEEN and WLIW, appointed Dave Brown as executive producer of the weekly news and public affairs program MetroFocus. Previously, Brown served as exec producer at Fox News Channel.
Stoopid Buddy Stoodios named Daytime Emmy-winning entertainment executive Margaret M. Dean (The Ricky Gervais Show) as General Manager. Dean most recently served as director of Production for Mattel division Playground Productions.
Univision Communications appointed Laraine (Rainey) Mancini as Senior Vice President, finance/head of investor relations. Mancini was previously Vice President, Corporate Strategy & Business Development and Vice President, Investor Relations at Time Warner Cable.
Fox Networks names Jeffrey D. Schneider its Executive Vice President, Business and Legal Sffairs, for National Geographic Channels and National Geographic Channels International. Schneider joins Fox from Shine America, where he served as EVP, Business Affairs/General Counsel.
Sesame Workshop tapped Kay Wilson Stallings as Senior Vice President, Content Development. Stallings most recently served as SVP, Production and Development at Nickelodeon.
The New York Times has named James Poniewozik its chief TV critic. He most recently worked at Time, where he served as the publications TV critic for more than a decade.
NBC 4 New York/WNBC hired investigative journalist Sarah Wallace to join the NBC 4 I-Team. Wallace most recently was at WABC in NY.
Denielle Webb has been tapped to serve as Vice President, Public Relations and Marketing for SundanceTV. Previously, Webb was a marketing and PR consultant at AMC.
Tony Optican has been appointed to the newly-created position of Head of Programming at Media General. Optican had served as head of scripted for FremantleMedia North America, and formed his own media consultancy and production company.
The Weinstein Group promoted Patrick Reardon to Executive Vice President of its television division. Reardon joined the company in 2013 as SVP and Head of Unscripted.
Lauren Ruggiero was named Senior Director of Scripted Content for Spike TV. Ruggiero comes to the position from Elice Island Entertainment, where she worked with Spike as co-producer of Tut.
Brenda Lowry takes the title of Vice President of Network Program Publicity at Crown Media Family Networks. Lowry had acted as Director of Communications for Syfy.
Discovery Communications has announced a realignment of its U.S. network portfolio. Rich Ross will become Group President, Discovery Channel, Animal Planet and Science Channel.
Discovery Life Channel will be integrated into the TLC team, reporting to Executive Vice President and General Manager Nancy Daniels. TLCs Executive Vice President of Development and Production Howard Lee will also assume responsibility as General Manager of Discovery Life Channel. Jane Latman, currently General Manager of Discovery Life Channel, will become General Manager of AHC, in addition to her duties as Senior Vice President of Development for ID. Bob Scanlon has been named General Manager of Velocity and Automotive Content. Finally, Discovery will coordinate leadership of its global family brands and kids content strategy under Carolina Lightcap, head of content for Discovery Latin America and U.S. Hispanic Group.
Lee Flaster has been named Senior Vice President, Business Operations & Growth Strategy of Telemundo. He last served as Senior Vice President, Planning, Strategy and Business Operations at NBCUniversal Hispanic Group.
New York-based production company Warrior Poets has upped Ethan Goldman to Partner and Head of Development and Eric Enright to Creative Executive. In addition, Matt Cafritz has been hired as named Manager of Development.
Kwittken, an MDC Partners Inc. agency, has appointed Shanee Goss as Managing Director of its New York office. Goss was previously Senior Vice President and a partner at FleishmanHillard.
Communications planning and media services agency Crossmedia hired David Heimlich as Executive Director. He joins the agency after four years at Horizon Media, where he most recently was Vice President, Managing Director.
