Despite a hack of HBO and the leak of an episode, last week Sunday’s Game of Thrones reached an all-time viewership high, drawing an audience of 10.2 million.
HGTV and Food Network boasted weekend ratings growth Friday, August 4 through Sunday, August 6. HGTV jumped 20% among A25-54 on Friday, 7% on Saturday, and 37% on Sunday, led by new series House Hunters Family and House Hunters Renovation, Caribbean Life and Island Hunters. Food Network posted A25-54 increases of 8% on Friday, 38% on Saturday and 23% on Sunday, boosted by Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and Food Network Star.
Hallmark Channel’s kick off of its annual “Summer Nights” programming event, with the airing of new original movie Love at the Shore, elevated the network to #1 in primetime Household ratings on Saturday. The movie averaged a 2.1 HH rating nd 2.2 million Total Viewers.
The finale of Univision’s Jose Egipto on Monday delivered an average 2.8 million total viewers, 1.1 million A18-49 and 411,000 A18-34, while the premiere of Le Tierra Prometida averaged 2.2 million total viewers, 855,000 A18-49 and 309,000 A18-34.
Dr. Phil (2.8 Live+SD national Nielsen rating, up 4% from last week) was the only one of the top seven talk shows on the upswing the week ending July 30. Despite being in reruns, the show dominated talkers for the 47th week in a row, spiking 17% from last year to its highest rating in five weeks. Live with Kelly and Ryan (1.9, down 5%) placed second, while Ellen DeGeneres fell into a third-place tie with Maury (1.5, unchanged).
Entertainment Tonight (2.6, down 4%) climbed 4% from last year and topped magazines for the 52nd straight week. Extra (1.1, steady) scored the most year-to-year growth among mags, improving 22%.
