RATINGS
ID was July’s #1 ad-supported cable network for total day delivery among both P25-54 (up five ranks from July 2016) and W25-54 (up one rank from July 2016). It was ID’s best July ever in prime and total day delivery for all key demos on Live+3 viewing, averaging more than 1 million viewers in prime for the month among P2+.
TLC ended July in the top 10 ad-supported cable networks in prime time among W25-54 (#5), W18-49 (#6) and W18-34 (#9), with double-digit year-over-year delivery increases, and was #1 among women on Sundays.
Being on the other side of the Trump administration isn’t hurting MSNBC. During primetime weekday hours in July, MSNBC drew 2.13 million viewers, behind Fox News’ 2.36 million but pulling ahead of CNN’s 961,000, according to Nielsen. But don’t cry for CNN, on track to have its second-highest primetime viewership since 2008 and best ever in full-day numbers.
The news just keeps getting better for Disney’s Descendants 2, which posted 10.9 million total viewers in Live+7 data. To date, Descendants 2 has reached over 26 million viewers on linear TV alone.
The August 2 episode of TV Land’s Younger reached a season high .85 among A24-54 in Live+3, a playback lift of 119% over its Live+SD rating. It was also the most-watched episode in series history, with 1.3 million viewers in Live+3.
CBS’s canceled Doubt topped the list of July’s TVision’s Attention Index, measuring eyes on screen. What’s that about? “Doubt was the first show cancelled for the 2016-2017 season, but its un-aired episodes gained traction with the summer audience,” noted Mark Green, TVision chief strategy office, to Cynopsis. “It is worth considering: do summer viewers crave more scripted programming or did “Doubt” just need more time to capture the attention of its audience?”
