Sarah Huckabee Sanders is joining Fox News as a contributor. The former White House Press Secretary will provide political commentary and analysis across Fox NewsChannel, Fox Business Network, Fox News Digital, Fox Nation and Fox News Media’s radio/podcast division. The new gig begins September 6.
Born This Way is coming to an end after its fifth and final season. The Emmy-winning A&E docuseries, which aired its fourth season in May 2018, will wrap with a six-part short-form digital series debuting later this year and a one-hour linear series holiday special finale airing in December on A&E.
Access Hollywood is extending its brand by adding new half-hour series All Access to its roster, beginning Monday, September 9. The show will look to national headlines to uncover both true crime and uplifting human interest stories. Hosted by Mario Lopez, KitHoover, Scott Evans and correspondent Sibley Scoles, All Access is set to air on six NBC-owned stations: New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, San Francisco Bay Area, Miami and Hartford, at 7:30p. Access Hollywood will move to 7p in these markets.
Sony Pictures Television released a preview video of The Mel Robbins Show, bowing nationwide Monday, September 16. In it, host Robbins proclaims the upcoming daytime talker “is not just a show, it’s an experience.” The one-hour will feature audience testimonials as well as the host’s advice for viewers to get the lives they want.
Cozi TV is giving away thousands of scratch-and-sniff cards, so fans can smell along as they watch “The Dinner” episode of The Office on Monday, August 26 at 10p, with a replay airing on Monday, September 2 at 10p. In addition, the network is airing “A Hardin’s Day Night” marathon on Sunday, September 22 beginning at 1p, focusing on the earlier appearances of Melora Hardin as Jan Levinson on the series. Antenna TV announced the addition of five classic series to its 2020 lineup. Beginning in January, the net will air Facts of Life, Diff’rent Strokes, Designing Women and NewsRadio, while Who’s the Boss joins the programming lineup in the fall.
TCM announced St. Louis as the winner of its third “Bring TCM to Your Hometown” contest. The network will host a free screening of Meet Me in St. Louis on September 26 at the historic Tivoli Theatre in celebration of the film’s 75th anniversary. Actress Margaret O’Brien, who starred in the film, will join host Ben Mankiewicz for a special intro and meet and greet with fans. Tickets are available September 3 at TCMBacklot.com.

PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT Sarah Michelle Gellar is heading back to primetime. The Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Ringer vet has teamed with Ringer creators Eric Charmelo and Nicole Snyder for Other People’s Houses, which has been picked up by Fox. The project is described as a suburban dramedy, somewhere between Big Little Lies and Catastrophe. Smithsonian Channel renewed Mystic Brain for a 10-episode second season. Hosted by Clive Anderson (Whose Line Is It Anyway, Loose Ends) and Mary-Ann Ochota (Hidden History), the TV road trip recommences its tour through Britain’s landscapes to investigate strange and sacred beliefs from the country’s past through the eyes of scientists, archaeologists and historians. Hugh Laurie (House,The Night Manager) is set to headline BBC drama Roadkill. The actor will play Peter Laurence, a self-made, charismatic British politician, in the four-part thriller written by Collaterel’s David Hare and produced by TheForge (National Treasure, Kiri). USA Network is moving forward with Philly Reign, a 1980s drama from Entertainment One and UCP and executive produced by Mary J. Blige. Blige won’t star in the series, which had been developed for her, since she was just tapped to headline a Power spinoff series from Starz. However, she may have a recurring role. Philly Reign is inspired by the life of Thelma Wright and explores the crimes one woman committed in the name of love. FX acquired The Bridgewater Triangle, a short story by Brian Miller, and is developing it into a series, reports Deadline. Noah Hawley and his 26 Keys are executive producing the project, with Miller attached to write it. The Bridgewater Triangle tells the story of a locale in southeastern Massachusetts known for its supernatural activity. Sky ordered a second season of comedy drama Brassic ahead of its debut, according to Deadline. The series, which premiered on Thursday, hails from Calamity Films and stars Joe Gilgun (This Is England), Damien Molony (Ripper Street) and MichelleKeegan (Our Girl). It centers on Vinny (Gilgun), a man from the north of England with bipolar disorder, and his best friend Dylan (Molony). Amazon is preparing to develop a series from an emerging British writer, after selecting the five finalists of its WriterSlam contest. The competition ran in association with TriForce Creative Network. Georgia Brown, Director of European Originals at Amazon Studios, revealed the names and projects at the Edinburgh International TV Festival. The winning script will be chosen on September 6, and the writer will work with Lydia Hampson, Head of Scripted UK for Amazon Studios to develop the show. BBC One released its new programming slate. Inside Man, a four-part mini-series produced by Hartswood Films and writer Steven Moffat (Sherlock, Doctor Who), recounts the story of a prisoner on death row in the US and a woman trapped in a cellar under an English vicarage who unexpectedly cross paths. The project goes into production in late 2020. Ridley Road is a four-part thriller from Barry writer Sarah Solemani that spotlights the rise of fascism in ‘60s London through the eyes of a young woman. The network also ordered When It Happens to You, a drama about abortion in Northern Ireland from Studio Lambert, written by TheGirl’s Gwyneth Hughes. David Attenborough is heading back to BBC with Extinction: The Facts from BBC Studios’ Science Unit. The documentary, commissioned by BBC One and presented by the Blue Planet star, examines what the future holds for Earth. BBC Three ordered Red Rose, an eight-part horror series from Eleven Film and eOne. The project, being penned by Michael and Paul Clarkson, the writing team behind Wheel of Time and The Haunting Hill House, follows a disparate group of teenagers adrift in the long hot summer following GCS exams. NEW & RETURNING SERIES Tinseltown’s most compelling tales are told when E! True Hollywood Stories returns Sunday, October 6 at 10p. Up first, NXIVM: Self Help or Sex Cult?, which investigates the recruitment of women into the organization and the severe impact it has on their lives. TLC’s Pillow Talk returns on Sunday, September 15 at 11p, following new episodes of 90 Day Fiance franchise favorites Before the 90 Days at 8p and Unexpected at 10p. Comedy Central Stand-Up Presents… is back on Friday, October 18. The new season bows with back-to-back episodes featuring Jaboukie Young White at 11p and Vanessa Gonzalez at 11:30p on Comedy Central. Valley of the Damned airs on Investigation Discovery on Tuesday, September 3 at 10p. The six-part series examines seven murders that rocked Fremont County, CO. Telemundo delves into the death of Selena Quintanilla in new series El Secreto de Selena debuting Sunday, August 25 at 10p After the success of Season 1 of Chasing the Sunon JOURNY, Ovation’s culture and travel-focused AVOD channel, the arts network will air back-to-back episodes of the series starting Thursday, October 3 at 7p. The show’s second season will launch on JOURNY on Wednesday, October 2. COMING UP TV One debuts The African Pride Gospel Superfest on Sunday, August 25 at 7p. The 19th annual celebration brings gospel recording artists and celebrities together, and Wendy Raquel Robinson hosts the one-hour telecast. PBS celebrates Latino heritage and culture with new programmingduring Hispanic Heritage Month. Among the highlights are American Masters presents Raul Julia: The World’s a Stage, the first film on the stage and screen actor. It claims the streamer has no license to host some 250 of Eminem’s songs and also takes aim at the Music Modernization Act, the federal law to improve royalty payments for songwriters. The suit was filed in Nashville on Wednesday. YouTube will be ending targeted ads on videos primarily watched by children, according to reports. The decision comes following a case by the US Federal Trade Commission that fined YouTube owner Google for violating child privacy laws. According to the Washington Post, the FTC said Google collected data from children who used its services, which is a breach of US privacy laws. STREAMING Amazon Prime Video set the release date for the new season of Goliath, the Billy Bob Thornton series from David E. Kelley and Jonathan Shapiro. Season 3 premieres Friday, October 4. AMC Networks announced the launch of Acorn TV and Urban Movie Channel on YouTube.
