Disney Channel gave a straight-to-series green light to Gabby Duan & the Unsittables. Showrunners and writers Mike Alber and Gabe Snyder (Kirby Buckets) serve as executive producers alongside Joe Nussbaum (Just Add Magic). Based upon the novel written by Elise Allen and Daryle Conners, the single-cam live-action comedy series stars 12-year-old newcomer Kylie Cantrall.
STXtv received a script-to-series order from Amazon Studios for a drama series from Kevin Kwan (Crazy Rich Asians), following a powerful Hong Kong family. Will Graham (Mozart in the Jungle) will supervise the series, co-created and co-written by Kwan and David Sangalli.
Sony Pictures Television has a reboot of The Facts of Life in early stages of development, with Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson’s Appian Way and Jessica Biel’s Iron Ocean Films in discussions to produce. The Diff’rent Strokes spinoff ran from 1979-1988 on NBC.

The price for a 30-second prime time spot on MSNBC in the first half of the year has jumped 129% to $13,550 in June, according to SQAD, which analyzes scatter ad deals. CNN rose 31% to $9451, while Fox News saw a 22% lift to $10,095. In weekday morning, MSNBC grew 31% to $2,950 in June; Fox News roes 7% to $3,937, and CNN dropped 45% to $1,121.
Turneradvertisers committed to spending five times the amount on target-based campaigns in this year’s upfront versus last year, according to Broadcasting & Cable, also upping their spend on Turner’s digital platforms. Turner’s increase in dollar volume was in the low to mid-single digits.
A new platform, Swace, aims to engage users directly with brands, with “a social media environment based on mutual respect.” brands create immersive games that are interactive – like finding 3D objects added to certain locations through Augmented Reality. The game offers motivation through rewards, and users who complete all the steps of a game share the tokens in the final prize pool. The tokens can be converted into cash or used for purchases in Swace’s brand store.

On Location, from ABC News, makes its debut on Facebook Watch today. The news show with ABC journalists delivering on-the-ground reporting will post at 11a daily.
Global phenomenon Fortnite will not be distributed via Google’s Play Store marketplace; instead, Android users will be able to download the game on compatible devices. The move saves Epic Games the 30% cut it would have to pay Google, but opens concerns about exposing Android users to potential security risks, since running third-party software requires removing certain protections on devices.
Commercial-free on demand hub FX+, featuring new seasons of FX original series as well as most legacy FX series, is now available to all FX subscribers.The new option to buy directly from FX, which just launched in beta, allows FX subscribers to get FX+ even if their cable, satellite, telco or virtual MVPD provider doesn’t yet offer FX+. Previously, only Xfinity and select Cox Contour subscribers had the opportunity to subscribe.
The first episode of AMC’s Lodge 49 premieres tonight, but AMC Premiere customers can binge all ten episodes commercial-free. It’s a strategy that’s working for AMC, which also made The Terror and McMafia available for full-season binging timed to their network debuts, leading to subscriber gains.
YouTube is expanding its YouTube Originals portfolio with new Spanish language series, and landed Gael Garcia Bernal (The Motorcycle Diaries) and Latin pop star Maluma to star in upcoming shows.“Latin America is a region filled with creative storytellers with unique voices, and we’re looking forward to working with them to bring their innovative brand of programming to YouTube fans around the world,” said Susanne Daniels, global head of original content.
Stingray Digital made an unsolicited offer of $120 million for Music Choice, an offer the Canadian digital and music video company says is good until August 31. While Stingray also bid for the company in 2013 and 2015, this time around, “We believe that our formal offer to purchase has strong merit and would bring a significant return on investment for Music Choice unitholders,” said Stingray co-founder and CEO Eric Boyko. Music Choice is owned by Charter Communications, Comcast, Cox Communications, Sony Corporation of America, WarnerMedia, Arris, and Microsoft.
