Jeffrey Goldberg, the editor in chief of The Atlantic, is the new moderator of NewsHour’s “Washington Week.” The Atlantic will join NewsHour and WETA as an editorial partner and co-producer of the public affairs show, to be rebranded as “Washington Week with The Atlantic,” starting Friday, August 11. NBC News Washington correspondent Yamiche Alcindor left the moderator spot in February.
GroupM announced GroupM Nexus’ Fusion, a collective commerce intelligence offering, is available for all global EssenceMediacom, Mindshare and Wavemaker clients. Fusion initially launched as a global retail media scorecard for select GroupM clients. “Commerce advertising – particularly retail media – is a rapidly evolving, and in many ways an inherently local vertical,” said Samantha Bukowski, GroupM Nexus Global Head of Commerce. “It is uniquely challenging in commerce to aggregate, analyze and action the wealth of disparate data within a single market, much less across the world – but it is also something we are uniquely positioned to solve.”
Former President Donald Trump joined Fox News President Jay Wallace and CEO Suzanne Scott for dinner at his Bedminster, NJ golf club shortly after learning he was being indicted for a third time, reports The New York Times. The purpose of the dinner, scheduled before the indictment news broke: the execs hoped to persuade Trump to attend the first Republican primary debate, which FNC is hosting on August 23. Trump has said he will probably skip the debate, but reportedly told Wallace and Scott he will keep an open mind. Reps for Fox News and Trump had no comment.

STRIKE UPDATES
The Writers Guild of America is slated to resume talks with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers on Friday, after a request to meet from the AMPTP. “We’ll be back in communication with you sometime after the meeting with further information,” read an email from the guild. “As we’ve said before, be wary of rumors. Whenever there is important news to share, you will hear it directly from us.” Writers have been on strike since May 2.
Hollywood A-listers are opening their wallets to help actors during the SAG-AFTRA strike. Among the performers who donated $1 million or more to the guild’s foundation are Nicole Kidman, Meryl Streep, Oprah Winfrey and Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively. “Thanks to the support of some of Hollywood’s top-earning stars, the Foundation is preparing to bring aid and hope to thousands of journeymen actors facing tremendous economic hardship,” the foundation said in a release today. The foundation’s President, Courtney B. Vance, said the group is processing more than 30 times its usual number of applications for emergency aid.

Animated series “Lyla in the Loop” premieres February 5, 2024, on PBS Kids. The show, from Mighty Picnic and Pipeline Studios, features a 7-year-old girl, along with her family and friends who live in an urban center.
Showtime has grabbed BBC Three comedy “Dreaming Whilst Black,” from Big Deal Films and A24. The series, following an aspiring filmmaker stuck in a dead-end job, premieres September 8 on Paramount+ with Showtime.
Peacock has moved up the launch date of “The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: ROHNY Legacy” to December, making it season four of the “Ultimate Girls Trip” series in place of “The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Ex-Wives Club.” The swap comes as Housewives spinoff “Luann & Sonja: Welcome to Crappie Lake,” starring Luann de Lesseps and Sonja Morgan, who will appear in “Legacy,” has become a hit on Peacock.

After three days, episode one of the Taylor Sheridan espionage thriller “Special Ops: Lioness” drew a combined audience of 6 million across Paramount+ with Showtime and Paramount Network in the US. “On one of the most competitive weeks of the year, ‘Special Ops: Lioness’ scored as the #1 new scripted series of the year on cable and one of the highest performers of all time on Paramount+,” said Chris McCarthy, President/CEO, Paramount Media Networks & Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios. “This heart-pounding thriller inspired by real-life events clearly struck a chord with a huge audience.”
Hallmark Channel’s annual Christmas in July stunt made Hallmark the #1 most-watched entertainment cable network of the month in Total Day and Primetime among key demographics, reaching 22 million unduplicated viewers throughout the month, according to Nielsen.
Cable news networks saw declines in July versus the year prior. In primetime, CNN was down 27% with 534,000 viewers, Fox News dropped 26% with 1.57 million and MSNBC was down 13% with 1.12 million. In total day, CNN and Fox News were both down 21%, with 426,000 and 1.07 million viewers, respectively, while MSNBC dipped 5%, to 723,000.
