RATINGS
The Late Night Show with Stephen Colbert ’s “Russia Week,” which covered the host’s trip to St. Petersburg and Moscow, won the week in viewers by its largest margin since its premiere in September 2015, according to Nielsen Live+SD ratings for the week ending July 21. The show averaged 2.87 million viewers, up +14% (from 2.52 million) compared to the same week last year.
After a quiet holiday week, the top syndicated magazines came back with sharp gains in the session ending July 16. Extra (1.1 Live+SD up 10% from the week before despite being preempted by The All-Star Game in numerous markets), Access Hollywood (1.1, up 10%) and The Insider (0.9, up 13%) clocked he biggest increases. Entertainment Tonight (2.6, up 8%) was the top-rated magazine for the 50th week in a row. Inside Edition (2.5, up 9%) and TMZ (1.3, up 8%) followed.
Also getting favorable Nielsen verdicts were Judge Judy (6.4, up 2%) and Hot Bench (2.3, up 5%).
For the week of July 17, Univision finished as the number two broadcast network, regardless of language, with A18-34, as well as number four among A18-49. Jose de Egipto grew its week-to-week audience with Total Viewers 2+ (+8% to 2.1 million), A18-49 (+12% to 845,000) and A18-34 (+9% to 334,000).
TV One ’s Rickey Smiley For Real experienced its third consecutive week of growth among W18-49 and second consecutive week of growth among P25-54, W25-54 and overall viewers P2+. Among African American P25-54, the show posted three consecutive weeks of gains.
