CBS’ The Late Show With Stephen Colbert delivered its largest weekly audience in two months, according to Nielsen Live+SD ratings for the week ending July 14. The show averaged 3.06 million viewers, its best weekly audience since the week ending May 12.
HGTV ranked as the No. 2 cable network among A25-54 on Sunday with a 7 percent increase over last year, led by a new episode of Island Hunters (+25 percent vs. year ago). Sunday night’s Food Network Star posted a .8 rating (740,000 IMP) among A25-54, ranking third within its time slot across all ad-supported cable, and up 14 percent vs. the prior season.
A&E original docu series Live PD reached a new ratings high on Saturday, July 15, with 2.1 million total viewers and just more than 1.0 million viewers in A25-54 demo and 871,000 with A18-49, according to Nielsen. As a result, A&E Network was the No. 1 network on all of television Saturday with A18-49 and the No. 1 cable network in A25-54.
More than 2.8 million total viewers tuned in for the premiere of truTV’s new scripted series I’m Sorry. The series’ first ep was watched by nearly 1.4 million A18-49 and 2.3 million total viewers on-air during its premiere week, and ranked No. 6 among cable primetime comedies in social conversation for the night according to Nielsen Social Content Ratings.
Crown Media Family Networks’ signature holiday programming isn’t just popular in Q4. Hallmark Channel’s premiere of The Christmas Cure, the centerpiece of the network’s “Christmas Keepsake” event, scored a 2.1 HH rating and 2.1 million viewers, boosting the network to rank No. 1 among HH ratings in primetime on Saturday. Hallmark Movies & Mysteries’ first original summer holiday movie premiere, Home for Christmas Day, which aired as part of the network’s “Gold Crown Christmas” stunt, averaged a 1.7 HH rating and 1.3 million Total Viewers.
In the week’s syndication news, Dr Phil grew 23 percent from last year, the most of any talk show, and leads the talkers for the 44th straight week with a 2.7 national rating despite airing reruns all week. True crime series Crime Watch Daily, also in repeats, added almost 200,000 daily viewers with a 13 percent ratings increase over last year.

Mamie Coleman has been promoted to SVP, creative music and production, at Fox Broadcasting Company. Most recently, Coleman was VP of muisic and production, on-air promotion.
Linda Giambrone has joined NBC Entertainment as head of alternative production, a new position connected with NBC’s new Universal Television Alternative studio. Giambrone most recently oversaw all unscripted production for Endemol Shine North America, including MasterChef and The Biggest Loser.
Turner promoted three execs in its Turner Content Distribution division. Jennifer Mirgorod will assume the expanded role of EVP, content distribution and strategic partnerships, up from EVP of brand distribution. Scott Miller has been promoted to EVP, content negotiations and strategy and associate general counsel, up from SVP/associate general counsel of legal and business affairs. Donna Northington rises to EVP, distribution planning and strategy, from SVP of strategic planning.
Animation studio Last Studio Standing added Dr. Lauren Barghout, currently a visiting scholar at the Berkeley Initiative for Soft Computing in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science department at the University of California-Berkeley, to its executive team.
