WE tv’s 2Q17 growth versus the same period last year included a 12% boost among A25-54 and 10% among W25-54 and A18-49. For the month of May, the net’s originals averaged 1 million total viewers, up 42% versus May 2016 in L+3.
Since the premiere of UP TV’s Date My Dad on June 2, the series has reached 4.4 million viewers P2+, growing week to week and up +38% in W25-54 delivery from premiere night.
In week 2, new Univision series Jose de Egipto grew its audience by double-digit margins, attracting 2.0 million total viewers 2+ (+19%), 806,000 A18-49 (+21%) and 355,000 A18-34 (+32%).
Discovery Channel had its highest-rated first half of the year ever on Wednesdays in P25-54 and its 2nd-highest-rated first half of the year on Mondays across P/M 25-54 and P/M 18-49. For the first half of 2017, the network ranked as the #1 cable network in M25-54 and M18-49 (excl. sports) and claimed more top 10 unscripted cable series than any other network across P/M25-54, M18-49, M18-34, and P2+.
The season 3 finale of Hallmark Channel’s Good Witch on July 2 scored a 2.8 HH rating and 3 million Total Viewers among Live+3 viewing. Over the course of the season, the series averaged a 2.6HH rating and over 2.8 million viewers, making the network the highest-rated and most-watched in the Sunday time period.
The season finale of Animal Planet’s Tanked hit season high ratings among A25-54 (0.56), M25-54 (0.58) and W25-54 (0.55) in L+3. The episode brought in the series’ highest ratings among A25-54 in more than two years and helped Animal Planet break into ad-supported cable’s Top Five in its time period among A25-54 (#3), 25-54 (#4), W25-54 (#4), P18-49 (#5) and P18-34 (#5).
The week of June 26, UniMas averaged 530,000 total viewers (up +41% versus the week prior), 261,000 A18-49 (up +51%) and 107,000 A18-34 (up +41%) during broadcast prime.
Science Channel scored its highest rated June ever in key demos, hitting June highs with P25-54 and W25-54. In Total Day, June tied as Science Channel’s highest rated June among P25-54, M25-54 and Viewers P2+, and was the highest rated June among W25-54, in L+3.
The season 4 finale of Bravo’s Southern Charm was the highest-rated finale in series history, delivering 1.1 million P18-49, 1.3 million P25-54 and 2.1 million total viewers. Southern Charm: Savannah earned 541,000 P18-49, 691,000 P25-54 and 1.2 million total viewers, while the net’s Million Dollar Listing NY posted week-over-week increases of +12% among P18-49 (691,000) and +14% among P25-54 (831,000).
TLC closed 2Q17 up 10% in primetime versus year ago and ranked as the #7 ad supported cable network among W25-54. The net also saw single to double-digit growth on five nights of the week versus year ago (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday).
The14th annual edition of Premios Juventud (Youth Award) made Univision the #1 broadcast network for the tenth consecutive year among A18-34 and P12-34, and reached 7.9 million Total Viewers 2+ who tuned in to all or part of the three-hour live simulcast airing on Univision and Galavision.

Fuse Media tapped Jennifer McGovern to fill the newly created position of Senior Vice President, Current and Development. Most recently, McGovern was responsible for the development of VH1 East Coast unscripted programming.
Estrella TV promoted news anchor Pedro Ferriz Hijar to Vice President of National News. In his new role, Ferriz Hijar will be responsible for the strategic planning and management of the network’s news division.

IN MEMORIAM
Actor Nelsan Ellis died after complications with heart failure. He was 39. Ellis was best known to TV viewers as Lafayette on True Blood. “Nelsan was a long-time member of the HBO family whose groundbreaking portrayal of Lafayette will be remembered fondly within the overall legacy of True Blood,” said HBO.
