Advertising Week New York is setting up shop in Midtown Manhattan. The weeklong event for media, advertising, marketing and tech executives returns on October 16-19 for its 19th year at a new venue, this time in the Penn District, steps away from Madison Square Garden.

TelevisaUnivision CEO Wade Davis said the company expects to fare better on pricing, following a weakened upfront market. The broadcaster anticipates gains and rate hikes, with a volume of commitments to be “up mid to single digits.” Davis also said that the ongoing strikes have had “zero impact” on the company’s production efforts, which largely take place in Mexico.

As the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes rage on, Bethenny Frankel has called for a Reality Stars Union. Said the “Real Housewives of New York” star, “Just because you can, as a streamer or a network, play the show as much as you want, doesn’t mean you should… Just because you can exploit young, doe-eyed talent desperate for the platform TV gives them it doesn’t mean you should. They don’t know what they don’t know. I was playing chess, but how do I help the people who may not know the game?”

“American Horror Story” offered audiences a glimpse of Kim Kardashian in the upcoming season. In the teaser, Kardashian can be seen in a blonde wig and a black dress while holding a baby. Season 12, called “Delicate,” also stars Emma Roberts and Cara Delevigne.

PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT

“La Maison” starring Lambert Wilson is coming to Apple TV+. The series pulls back the curtain on the French fashion house and LeDu family dynasty facing reinvention in the wake of a viral video.

Paramount+ and Sony Pictures Television have teamed up to bring “Twisted Metal” to Canada. Premiering August 10, the live-action adaptation of the PlayStation video game includes cast members Anthony Mackie, Stephanie Beatrice, Joe Seanoa and Neve Campbell. Will Arnett has signed on to executive produce, and also voices the character Sweet Tooth. All 10 episodes will drop on the premiere date, and will launch in other international territories on a later date.

HGTV is doubling up on Christina Hall. New “Christina on the Coast” and “Christina in the Country” episodes are slated to premiere in 2024.

Season two of “The White Lotus” cost nearly $40 million to make, according to a new MPA study. Approximately $35.8 million were for local goods and services, with the remaining funds ( about $8.9 million) spent on wages and salaries for the 1,500 full and part-time jobs created through HBO’s investment. According to the MPA, the total rises to $42.2 million when including indirect costs.

NEW & RETURNING SERIES

The first three episodes of “Secret Invasion” premiere today. The Disney+ original series’ special programming event celebrates the upcoming finale. A Skrull invasion at San Diego Comic-Con is also imminent, as fans attending this weekend’s convention may bump into – or become – one of the shapeshifters. The episodes – “Resurrection,” “Promises” and “Betrayed” – will stream on Hulu through August 17.

“Gen V” premieres September 29 on Amazon Prime Video. “The Boys” spinoff from Eric Kripke is set at a superhero college, where ambition meets sacrifice as the first generation of superheroes train for Compound V, and their powers are injected into them.

COMING UP

Lester Holt is taking “NBC Nightly News” to Alaska. Holt will anchor the live broadcast from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, where he previously lived when his father was stationed there during the Vietnam War, on Monday.

SPORTS UPDATE

The CNBC x Boardroom game Plan Summit in LA on Tuesday will be available via livestream. Virtual and in-person attendees of the event can expect to hear from executives and athletes on current investment opportunities across sports – including leadership, live sports and the intersection of sports and entertainment. The list of speakers include Jessica Berman of the National Women’s Soccer League, Colorado Rockies Co-owner Linda Alvarado and Paolo Banchero, 2022-23 NBA Rookie of the Year.

TECH TALK

YouTube Premium bumped its monthly cost up by $2. The total subscription cost per month is now $13.99, and the cost of YouTube Music has risen to $10.99. YouTube spokesperson Jessica Gibby said, “We believe this new price reflects the value of YouTube Premium which allows subscribers to enjoy ad-free YouTube with background and offline play and uninterrupted access to over 100M songs with the YouTube Music app.”

CASTING

Jon Heder and T.J. Miller have signed on to star in “Fortun3.” Inspired by the collapse of Sam Bankman-Fried’s crypto firm FTX, the workplace comedy is a web3 animated series produced by story studio Toonstar, which will also release an AI-powered companion game.

GOING GLOBAL

The French Cinema Guilds L’Arp and La SRF declared solidarity with the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. In a joint statement, the guilds wrote, “This double social movement, a first since 1960 in Hollywood, is the sign of a major turning point, where the issues of value sharing, the integration of new models and artificial intelligence are central.”

Davide Nardini of Prime Video Italy gave his take on the actors’ strike at the AVP Summit yesterday. “New projects have the opportunity to gesticulate because the strike has imposed a stop that entails gaps that could be filled by international productions of high quality,” he said. “It’s very complex and I don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow.” Nardini added that the company has changed some editorial lines to target a wider audience.
