|Game 4 of the NBA finals on ABC scored a 35% rise in viewership of last year’s Game 4, per Nielsen, with the broadcast averaging 10,254,000 viewers. The Milwaukee Bucks victory over the Phoenix Suns in the matchup, making the series 2-2, pushed ABC to win the night across all of television and in all key demos, including the Adult and Male demos. The Game 4 audience was also up 14% over the Game 3 audience. Through four games, the 2021 NBA Finals is averaging 9,311,000 viewers, up 34% from last year.
FOX Sports saw the country rally around the 2021 MLB All-Star Game, as this year’s event saw 8,311,000 viewers on FOX and FOX Deportes, up 1% on FOX in 2019, and delivering the network’s best performance for a Tuesday telecast since December. Streaming platforms saw an AMA of 108,053, up 33% over 2019.
Univision’s TUDN drew big viewership on Saturday and Sunday for action from Copa América, Euro, and Gold Cup taking place on the same weekend for the first time. The action kicked off Saturday with the Copa América final which scored 3.5 million Total Viewers 2+ and 1.7 million Adults 18-49. Sunday’s 2020 Euro Cup action saw nearly 3 million viewers tune into Univision to see Italy defeat England in penalties at Wembley Stadium, extending the Three Lions 55-year title drought. Telemundo Deportes will serve up at least 12 hours of daily coverage during the Tokyo Olympics, offering programming highlights include live competition coverage of soccer, boxing, basketball, volleyball, beach volleyball and baseball and highlights of the top disciplines and athletes that are relevant to the Latino audience. Telemundo’s Tokyo Olympics live coverage kicks off Wednesday, July 21 with the Women’s first round featuring Team USA’s debut against Sweden, live at 4:30a. ESPN revealed that matchups for five of the six ESPN Events owned and operated early-season men’s college basketball tournaments have been determined with play beginning Nov. 18 and continuing through Christmas Day. Each eight-team men’s college basketball tournament – Shriners Children’s Charleston Classic, Myrtle Beach Invitational, ESPN Events Invitational, and Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic – will be comprised of 12 games over three days, with the NIT Season Tip-Off and Paycom Wooden Legacy each featuring four teams and four games over two days of play. Teams will compete in one game per day, advancing through the bracket.
The NBA announced the NBA Draft 2021 presented by State Farm will be held at Barclays Center in Brooklyn on July 29 at 8p. ESPN platforms will exclusively televise the NBA Draft for the 19th consecutive year and for the first time it will air on both ABC and ESPN.

ESPN tips off its eighth year of coverage of The Basketball Tournament on Friday with all 63 games of the tournament, featuring the Elam Ending, running on either ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPN3, with 33 games on ESPN or ESPN2. TBT will also debut its 33-Point Contest featuring contestants squaring off in single-elimination bracket format, to see who can hit 11 three-pointers first. Tennis Channel will be the exclusive home of the entire US Open Series, the seven-week, nine-tournament circuit.
