The USGA, Topgolf and FOX Sports are teaming up for the US Open Championship and will launch a live viewing experience at all 30 Topgolf venues across the country on June 15. The “Ultimate US Open Watch Party” starts at 11a, offering an immersive experience and interactive games coupled with first-round U.S. Open action on all of Topgolf’s in-venue monitors on FS1 until 6p and FOX until 9p. “We’re excited to bring the U.S. Open to new audiences, many of whom may have been introduced to the game through new avenues, and are enthusiastic about playing,” said Diana Murphy, president of the USGA. “We know the power of the U.S. Open to excite and inspire. Supporting a nationwide U.S. Open watch party can help advance interest in golf, and engage more people to try the game for the first time.”
Allstate Insurance Company i nked a multi-year partnership agreement to become the Official Insurance Sponsor of CONCACAF. The agreement was negotiated by Soccer United Marketing and includes a four-year renewal as the Official Home, Auto, Life and Retirement Insurance Partner of MLS as well as the Federacion Mexicana de Futbol.
UFC locked in a multi-year partnership with General Tire, which will serve as the “Official Tire Partner of the UFC” in the Asia-Pacific region. The partnership launched June 17 with UFC Fight Night: Holm vs. Correia at Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore. With this partnership, General Tire snags rights to branding inside Octagon and at experience booths during events. In addition, General Tire will also receive promotional spots during live broadcasts as well as being featured across social and digital platforms.
EA announced that Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid will grace the global cover star of EA Sports FIFA 18, which hits shelves on Sept. 29 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 systems. “The world’s best player has helped fuel the biggest leap forward on the pitch that we’ve ever delivered,” said Aaron McHardy, Senior Producer for EA SPORTS FIFA. “We are extremely excited to partner with Cristiano – working with him we learned a lot about his unique play style and what makes him so special. His passion, energy and global fanbase make him the perfect ambassador for FIFA 18.”
Meanwhile, 2K is turning to Kyrie Irving of the Cleveland Cavaliers as the cover athletes for NBA 2K18 . “It is well known that I’m an avid player of this series and I am honored to be the cover athlete of NBA 2K18,” said Kyrie Irving, who has his sights set on another ring and is making a run for back-to-back championships. “It’s surreal to be featured on the cover and I can’t wait to dominate on the virtual court with all of my fans this fall.”
Daybreak Game Company is launching the Elite Series, a new pro circuit for H1Z1:King of the Hill that will hit four stops in North and South America, Europe, and Asia. Each event will see single-elimination team and solo tournaments with prize pools of $150,000 and $100,000, respectively. The series begins at DreamHack Atlanta this year, running July 21-13.
Facebook detailed plans for E3, describing its campaign as its “biggest year yet,” with a public activation in West Hall that will be dubbed ‘Raise Your Game.’ Activation will include a Facebook LIVE stage where Andrea Rene will host a series of guests for live programming throughout the three days of the show with guests that include developers, marketers, and more. In addition, the platform will integrate more video than ever and offer some news to share on the gaming video front.
Speaking of E3, Twitch inked a deal with T-Mobile to partner as host of the “first-ever” Twitch Esports Arena. Spotlighting fighting games, the tournament will see top players compete in Street Fighter V, TEKKEN 7, and Injustice 2 during all three days of E3. Admission will be open the public with all activities from the T-Mobile Esports Stage streamed on Twitch.tv/twitchesports. T-Mobile customers will get a VIP area where they can watch the event live.
After OpTic Gaming laid claim as the Season 1 champions of the Gears Pro Circuit, tournament organizers announced plans for another season, dangling $1,000,000 for play that will begin later in the year.
