Despite Will Ferrell’s contention in April that his Lifetime movie with Kristen Wiig was canceled after the Hollywood Reporter outed the secret project, Lifetime confirmed to Cynopsis that A Deadly Adoption will premiere on Saturday, June 20. The SNL alums play a married couple whose plans to adopt a baby go awry.
E! announced the name of its docu-series following Caitlyn Jenner’s life as a transgender woman. Eight-part I Am Cait launches Sunday, July 26 at 9p, airing on E! channels in over 120 countries.
The debut of CBS’s The Late Show With Stephen Colbert isn’t until Tuesday, September 8, but ColbertLateShow.com, the Colbr App for iOS, and the show’s Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Google+ accounts launched Wednesday. “Say what you will about the Internet,” said Colbert, “I think it’s here to stay!” Plus: no more Colbeard. “CBS is making me shave it off,” explained Colbert in a promo video, “because Tom Selleck’s mustache has a non compete clause.”
Showtime is launching a stand-alone streaming service in early July, with Apple as its first partner. Price tag: $10.99/month for viewing on all Apple devices. “Going over-the-top means Showtime will be much more accessible to tens of millions of potential new subscribers,” said CBS Corp. president and CEO Les Moonves. “Across CBS, we are constantly finding new ways to monetize our programming by capitalizing on opportunities presented by technology.” HBO’s standalone service, HBO Now, launched in April at $14.99.
Lorenzo Soria was elected president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for the 2015-2016 term. Soria previously served as president in 2003-2005.
TiVo’s “State of TV Report” covering 1Q15 notes CW continues to be the most time-shifted network, cable included, at 78 percent. Bravo was next, with 69 percent, and Fox right behind at 68 percent. The report also illustrates TiVo’s True Target Index metric, showing various categories of packaged goods, Rx treatments and vehicle types more likely to be purchased by viewers of particular networks or series.
The Streamy Awards, honoring online video creators and content, get their first TV showcase when the 5th annual event airs live on VH1 and its digital platforms Thursday, September 17 at 10p. “The VH1 audience is connected on every platform. So it’s a natural for VH1 to celebrate the innovators who, like us, entertain literally millions of viewers,” said VH1 presidentTom Calderone. Added Streamy Awards creator Drew Baldwin, “Having the full support of such a major media network validates what we have believed all along – native digital creators are integral to the future of entertainment.”

Beyond Distribution announced the commission of season two of Love It or List It UK by Channel 4. Season one of the series, produced by Raise the Roof Productions, has drawn an average 2.3 million viewers.
IFC original comedy series Documentary Now!, starring Fred Armisen and Bill Hader covering fake stories, has a real host. Dame Helen Mirren (The Queen) will presumably keep a straight face as she introduces docs along the lines of “an intimate portrait of socialite mother-daughter feral animal hoarders.” Launch date: Thursday, August 20 at 10p.
Smithsonian Channel’s Aerial America, which set out in 2008 to film every U.S. state from the air, premieres number 50 on Sunday, June 7 at 8p. Preceding Illinois will be a marathon of the other 49 states beginning at 2p on Friday, June 5. Produced by Tusker Television, Aerial America is still in production, with a two-part special on California and an episode focused on Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands on the way.
TruTV has new series joining the lineup this summer, including prank/sketch show Fameless, launching Wednesday, July 29 at 10:30p after the season two premiere of The Carbonaro Effect, and Six Degrees of Everything, a comedic look at unexpected connections between various topics, paired with season two of Hack My Life starting Tuesday, August 18.

A documentary about TV legend Norman Lear is on the way from Loki Films and Thirteen’s American Masters, expected to premiere on PBS in fall 2016. American Masters: Norman Lear (wt) will combine stories from Lear’s turbulent childhood with interviews from family, friends and collaborators including George Clooney, Rob Reiner, Bill Moyers and Russell Simmons. “It’s astounding to be a subject of American Masters when in your heart you know you are still only nine years old,” said Lear.
Journalist Nick Watt uncovers surprising things about people and places in Travel’s Watt’s World. Series from Lincoln Square Productions launches with back-to-back eps Tuesday, June 30 at 10p and 10:30p.
GSN’s The Chase picks up with new season four eps, followed a new iteration of word association game Chain Reaction starting Thursday, July 16 at 8p. Chain Reaction reboot is hosted by radio and TV personality Mike Catherwood (Loveline).

Grit licensed broadcast TV rights to all eight seasons of Walker, Texas Ranger, starring Chuck Norris, from Sony Picture Television. The network, part of Katz Broadcasting, targets men 25-54 – and “Chuck Norris, in many ways, is Grit personified,” said Jonathan Katz, President and CEO of Katz Broadcasting.
Telemundo and Kia Motors have partnered on the net’s web series, El Maestro: Unplugged, starring Latin Grammy winner Luis Enrique offering up-and-coming artists advice. Enrique will be featured in the 2016 Kia Sorento in each episode, and the deal includes on-air promotions and digital activations. “Kia’s U.S. marketing initiatives are focused on raising consumer perception and awareness around the brand, and with Hispanics over-indexing on online video consumption, we felt that sponsoring El Maestro offered a tremendous opportunity to communicate and interact with the Hispanic community in authentic and meaningful ways," said Tim Chaney, VP of marketing communications, KMA.
Outdoor Sportsman Group is also focusing on online advertiser integration with a custom website designed for RAM Trucks. The May 15 episode of TNT‘s Cold Justice garnered a combined audience of 2.2 million viewers in Live+7 delivery for its premiere telecast and encore, up 13 percent over the prior week. With 1 million A25-54, the show was up 30 percent versus the week prior.
TBS‘s Your Family Or Mine drew a combined audience of 2.5 million viewers in Live+7 delivery for its May 12 premiere telecast and encores, including 1.2 million adults 18-49 and 455,000 adults 18-34. Across TBS’s multiple platforms, the series is reaching an average of 2.7 million viewers per episode.
Telemundo boasts it delivered its best share ever in May, with 38 percent among A18-49 during Monday-Friday primetime, and gaining more viewers in the demo than any other Spanish-language net with an average 812,000.
TV One had its best May delivery ever in key demos, according to Nielsen Live+SD data. In primetime the net grew 35 percent year-over-year among P25-54, was up 25 percent among P18-49, and 26 percent in HH. In total day, the P25-54 gain was 17 percent, P18-49 saw a 22 percent boost and HHs increased 14 percent.
The season premiere of WE tv’s Marriage Boot Camp Reality Stars reached a franchise high with more than 1.4 million total viewers, nearly 1 million A25-54 and nearly 800,000 W25-54.
Judge Judy ruled May sweeps as the top syndicated strip for the fifth time in the past seven ratings periods, with a 6.7 HH rating. Wheel of Fortune was second, with 6.5. Among talk shows, Dr. Phil was number on for the 11th consecutive major sweep with 3.3, while Live With Kelly and Michael earned 2.9, an eight year household high.

Tuesday A18-49 Analysis: NBC earned a 2.1/7 rating among A18-49 viewers to top Tuesday, according to final primetime national ratings from Nielsen. NBC’s America’s Got Talent was first at 8p with 2.3/9, followed by 1.1/4 for Univision’s Amores con Trampa. Talent topped 9p with 2.6/9, versus 1.1/4 for Fox’s Hell’s Kitchen. I Can Do That kept NBC in first at 10p with 1.5/5; it was a tie for second between CBS’s 48 Hours and Uni’s Que te Perdone Dios…Yo No with .9/3.
