SPONSORSHIP & PROMOTION

The NHL has a new franchise, signing on for a partnership with PLAYMOBIL to produce a new line of NHL toys. This marks the first time PLAYMOBIL struck a deal for a U.S. and Canadian licensed line of products. The first sets will hit the market in October and focus on the Original Six franchises Boston Bruins, Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings, Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers and Toronto Maple Leafs. The line of 16 playsets will also feature a full ice rink with score-keeper, a Zamboni ice resurfacing machine, NHL referees, and the Stanley Cup trophy.

ESPN and Special Olympics announced a one-year extension to the two-year global initiative in a move that will extend ESPN’s role as the global presenting sponsor and official media sponsor of Special Olympics Unified Sports. ESPN will continue to support Special Olympics’ goal of registering one million Unified Sports participants, including athletes (individuals with intellectual disabilities), teammates (individuals without intellectual disabilities) and coaches, by the end of 2015.

Delta Air Lines launched Delta Dugout 2015, a baseball promotion that rewards fans with game experiences and prizes, activated in conjunction with five teams it sponsors: the New York Yankees, New York Mets, Atlanta Braves, Detroit Tigers and Minnesota Twins. The promotion sees Delta reward fans through digital promotions on each of the teams’ websites and through social media. In September, one fan from each of the five teams will receive the grand prize: on-field access to batting practice and four game tickets in the Delta Sky360 suite at the team’s venue.

Jif signed on for the launch of the new Halftime Heroes program as part of its sponsorship of the 2015 Kick It Tour, the world’s largest 3v3 soccer tournament.  Christie Rampone, captain of the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team anchors the promotion with Jif To Go to help raise $25,000 for the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. From May 30, 2015 through August 9, 2015, Jif is encouraging families attending the Kick It tournaments to share a photo of how they’re having fun at the Jif tent as part of the #JifToGo Halftime Heroes Photo Promotion and post using the hashtags #JifToGo and #PromoEntry. The “Kick It” tour will stop in the top 50 markets across the U.S.

OneUp Sports announced the relaunch of the MLB Connect live second screen social gaming platform. The interactive, real-time game offers new features and allows players to select the live game that they want to view from the LineUp schedule.
