Nat Geo’s American Genius, premiering tonight at 9p, sheds light on innovations that changed the world. “We’re bringing to life the aha moments, the human stakes and the full-blooded battles of will and ego to unlock the secrets of American invention,” Tim Pastore, president, original programming and production, National Geographic Channel U.S., tells Cynopsis. “Everyone knows the legendary icons and luminaries who changed the world through their innovations – they gave us the telephone and the television, the six-gun, the A-bomb, the iPod. But those American geniuses were not the only ones behind these inventions,” adds Stephen David, president and executive producer, Stephen David Entertainment. “The challenges they faced were too big to face alone, and not many people know the story of who those bright minds were seconded by – we wanted to bring them to light as well.”
As the FIFA scandal makes headlines, Fusion is airing a special edition of The Soccer Gods tonight at 9p. In FIFA Watch: The Wrath of the Soccer Gods, Nando Vila and Simon Carr talk corruption, money and whether a takedown of top officials could lead to the U.S. getting to host a World Cup.
World Cup sponsors have expressed outrage over charges leveled against FIFA officials for years of corruption, but it’s hard to walk away from such a valuable marketing opportunity. How far should advertisers go to dissociate themselves from the scandal? Let us know in the new Cynopsis poll.

Season four of Spike TV’s Bar Rescue continues in San Francisco on Sunday, June 21 at 9p, where host Jon Taffer deals with a family member who can’t stop guzzling the inventory, when he’s not giving it away. Oh, and there’s family debt, and the business’s “pornographic” past.
