California’s film and TV tax credit program could get a $180 million hike if the state’s lawmakers are successful in their quest to bring it more on par with New York. The California Senate Budget Committee last week adopted a proposal that would provide $90 million per year for 2021-22 and 2022-23, which would be added to the $330 million annual outlay in the current program, administered by the California Film Commission. The figure is triple the amount Gov. Gavin Newsom had proposed.

Game shows did not have a lot of fun. “Family Feud” lost a bit but beat “Jeopardy!” with former star contestant Buzzy Cohen at the podium and its “Tournament of Champions” finale. “Wheel of Fortune” also slowed slightly.
