Velocity’s Speed Is the New Black got off to a fast start, with the network’s most-watched series launch ever among key. The May 24 premiere earned .61 HH, .58 M25-54 and .35 P25-54 ratings, scored 527,000 P2+ average viewers and garnered double-digit ratings increases between Live+SD and Live+3 among P25-54 (+21%) and M25-54 (+23%).
Monday’s premiere of Michael Jackson: Searching for Neverland on Lifetime drew 2.0 million total viewers, 728,000 A18-49 and 484,000 W18-49, ranking as cable’s #2 original movie premiere for 2017 to date in the demos, behind Lifetime’s Beaches .

Legendary sportswriter Frank DeFord died May 28. He was 78. Winner of both Peabody and Emmy awards, DeFord, who contributed to HBO’s Real Sports, was given the PEN/ESPN Lifetime Achievement Award for Literary Sports Writing.
Longtime CBS programming executive Michael Ogiens died May 25. He was 69. Ogien moved from daytime to comedy development roles at CBS, before founding the Ogiens/Kane Company with Josh Kane and becoming President of MTM Productions.
Actor/playwright/director Robert Michael Morris died May 29. He was 77. Morris is best known to television audiences for his role on HBO’s The Comeback. Most recently, Morris guest-starred on The Middle.
