IN THE NEWS
There may be more ways to watch content than ever before, but over 92% of all adult viewing among U.S. adults 18+ is on a TV screen, according to Nielsen’s 4Q16 Comparable Metrics Report. The study analyzed the share of total gross minutes of consumer viewing across televisions and TV-connected devices. “What we found was that contrary to the popular narrative that smaller screens were taking away time from the TV glass, when we looked deeper we found that overall time spent viewing on the TV had the most minutes among every age or ethnic demographic looked at,” said Peter Katsingris, SVP Audience Insights, Nielsen. “In some cases the share of viewing was as much as 97%.”
A lawsuit claiming America’s Got Talent humiliated a couple’s daughter is being dismissed, said FremantleMedia. As for new host Tyra Banks, who made comments that upset the contestants, “Tyra has been an incredible addition to ‘AGT’ with her vibrant energy and maternal nurturing spirit,” said FremantleMedia, “and we look forward to continuing to watch her positive influence on the show.” AGT is back for season 12 tonight at 8p.
