Trevor Noah has a start date: The Daily Show with Trevor Noah makes its debut on Comedy Central Monday, September 28. The last hurrah for John Stewart, who announced in February he’d be leaving the late-nighter after 16 years, is August 6.
Tracy Morgan (30 Rock) will sit down with Matt Lauer on Monday’s Today show for his first interview since being critically injured in a June 2014 highway crash. On May 27, Morgan reached a confidential settlement with Walmart, whose truck rammed into the back of a limo van carrying Morgan and others. Comedian and passenger James McNair was killed. “Walmart did right by me and my family, and for my associates and their families,” said Morgan.
Bounce TV licensed broadcast rights to all five seasons of The Bernie Mac Show in a multi-year agreement with Twentieth Television. The comedy will air weekdays with back-to-back eps starting June 1.
Investigation Discovery will be killing it on newsstands this summer and fall, with a series of true-crime special reports launched in partnership with Discovery Consumer Products and Topix Media Lab. Inaugural issue: 100-page Women Who Kill, available now for $9.99.
Over $4 million has been raised for a UCLA endowment for STEM scholars, named for CBS’s The Big Bang Theory. An initial donation from the Chuck Lorre Family Foundation has been supplemented by gifts from nearly 50 people associated with the comedy, including cast members, crew, Warner Bros. Television, CBS and other industry leaders. Twenty Big Bang Theory scholars will be selected for the 2015-16 academic year to receive financial assistance.
HBO ordered Funny or Die pilot The Gorburger Show, with T.J. Miller voicing a blue monster who interviews celebs on a talk show. Shooting is underway in L.A.
NBC gave a straight-to-series order to an untitled thriller from writer Graham Moore (The Imitation Game), director Marc Forster (World War Z) and Endemol Shine Studios, reports Deadline. Sky, which co-developed the project, will house the drama in the UK.
HBO and Cinemax signed Banshee co-creator Jonathan Tropper to a two-year overall deal. Tropper will continue to develop, write and exec produce under Tropper Ink, as well as supervise projects with other writers for HBO and Cinemax.
Orion Television announced production for season three of Lauren Lake’s Paternity Court will begin in Atlanta on June 1. Season to date nationally, the court show is outpacing year-ago performance with homes and W25-54 by 22 percent and 10 percent, respectively.
ID ordered a second season of Unraveled and third of I’d Kill for You from Peacock Productions. Both are set for 2016 premieres.
Exclusive: Nat Geo is enlisting FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer to host Reel Talk Live, a one-hour live talk show featuring the captains and crewman of Wicked Tuna. Season four finale of Tuna premieres Sunday, May 31 at 9p, followed at 11p by Reel Talk.
Intersexions, from South Africa, debuts on Africa Channel Sunday, May 31 at 9p. Drama presents interrelated stories of sexual relationships across age, geographic, racial and class boundaries, showing risk scenarios that could lead to HIV infection.
There are a slew of TV stars past and present who will take the stage at the 69th Annual Tony Awards. Presenters include Jason Alexander, Bryan Cranston, Larry David, Neil Patrick Harris, Marg Helgenberger, Debra Messing, Jim Parsons, David Hyde Pierce, Keifer Sutherland and Ashley Tisdale. Show airs live on CBS Sunday, June 7 at 8p.
NBA TV’s documentary Clutch City, part of the NBA TV Originals franchise, features interviews with former Houston Rockets coach Rudy Tomjanovich and teammates reflecting on their back-to-back championships in the 1990s. Premiering Monday, June 8 at 9p, the doc is preceded by 30-minute pre-show special Countdown to Clutch City at 8:30p.
Crown Media Family Networks and Best Friends Animal Society are teaming to raise the profile of Adopt-a-Shelter-Cat Month. Every day in June, Hallmark Channel’s Home & Family will feature segments hosted by pet rescue advocate Suzanne Browning that will highlight an animal from Best Friends’ Pet Adoption & Spay/Neuter Center in Mission Hills.

Add Keke Palmer to the cast of Fox’s Grease: Live, slated for January 31, 2016. The True Jackson, VP alum, who also has a role in upcoming Fox comedy horror series Scream Queens, will play Pink Lady Marty.

A new episode of a Disney Junior series will air every weekday from Monday, June 29 through Thursday, August 13 as part of the net’s “Soaring Over Summer” multi-platform event. After the arrests of soccer officials on charges of corruption in an investigation that is ongoing, World Cup sponsors are responding to the scandal. “McDonald’s takes matters of ethics and corruption very seriously, and the news from the U.S. Department of Justice is extremely concerning,” said the fast-food chain, one of several brands to issue a statement. Visa said, “It is important that FIFA make changes now.” And from Coca-Cola: “This lengthy controversy has tarnished the mission and ideals of the FIFA World Cup and we have repeatedly expressed our concerns about these serious allegations.” FIFA leaders would do well to listen – the organization earns $177 million per year from its marketing partners.
Wells Fargo & Company is launching a national campaign, “Why I Work,” to raise awareness for the company among African American consumers. A 360-degree cross-platform campaign produced by One Solution includes integrated segments on TV One’s News One Now with Roland Martin.
Liam Neeson is the most likable celeb endorser (78 percent likability), according to a new Nielsen study focused on 1Q15. Next on the likability chart: Pierce Brosnan (75 percent likability) and Matthew McConaughey (74 percent). Jennifer Garner was the top woman on the list, with 72 percent.
