CMJ Productions II Inc. struck a deal with punk rocker-turned-journalist/author Steve Miller to create and produce original true crime series. Miller has spent over 22 years as a street beat reporter, covering everything from murder and terrorism to government wrongdoing.
Crackle began filming original movie, Party Boat, starring Jay Mohr (SNL, Jerry McGuire), Brett Davern (Awkward, Chosen), Beau Mirchoff (Awkward), Katie Leclerc (Switched at Birth) and Sung Kang (Power, Fast and Furious 6). The comedy centers on Max (Davern) throwing a 25th birthday party for his best friend Kiley (Leclerc).
NBC and Universal TV tapped Covert Affairs creators Matt Corman and Chris Ord as executive producers and show runners for The Brave. New drama will air Mondays at 10p following The Voice, this fall.
NEW & RETURNING SERIES
Freeform ’s Shadowhunters and Stitchers return with back-to-back episodes next month. The summer premiere of Shadowhunters airs Monday, June 5 at 8p, followed by the Season 3 debut of Stitchers at 9p.
Viceland ’s American Boy Band debuts Thursday, June 8 at 10:30p. Series follows Kevin Abstract and Brockhampton as they get face-to-face with fans during their first tour as headliners.
COMING UP
American Heroes Channel pays tribute to the armed forces with its third annual Salute to Sacrifice event, kicking off on Saturday, May 27 at 8p and continuing through Memorial Day, Monday, May 29.
CBS also has plans for Memorial Day weekend, remembering fallen military and their families with a special CBS Cares public service announcement running throughout the holiday weekend, beginning Friday, May 26. The PSA, featuring 60 Minutes correspondent and Vietnam War veteran, Steve Kroft, encourages viewers to honor the fallen and help their families cope with grief by volunteering or donating to Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors.
Turner Classic Movies and FilmStruck celebrate Pride Month in June with movie lineups dedicated to exploring LGBT themes in cinema. TCM will air Gay Hollywood, hosted by Dave Karger and William Mann, every Thursday throughout the month, while FilmStruck presents a Gay and Lesbian Cinema showcase, hosted by Alonso Duralde.
National Urban League Presents: State of Black American Town Hall airs on TV One on Wednesday, May 31 at 8p. The televised town hall, hosted by News One Now’s Roland Martin, dissects the National Urban League’s semi-annual report with commentary by a panel of African-American thought leaders.

The Vault NYC was assigned to conceive and produce a series of TV and digital ads for FanDuel’s fantasy golf offering. The commercials, which were shot on location in Orlando, FL, will run in conjunction with the U.S. Open Championship in Wisconsin from June 15 to 18.

TruTV ’s Impractical Jokers is heading to syndication, having been cleared in 85% of U.S. markets. The launch is scheduled for September 2017. Currently in its sixth season and already greenlit for a seventh, it’s the net’s longest running series and top rated original comedy in all key demos.
CASTING
Vera Farmiga and Mel Rodriguez have boarded the cast of sci-fi anthology Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams. Series was commissioned by UK’s Channel 4, slated to air later this year, and will also launch on Amazon Prime in the U.S.
Sharon Lawrence, Alimi Ballard , and Morgot Bingham are set for recurring roles on Season 2 of OWN’s Queen Sugar.

Amazon Studios is developing Cleopatra, a drama about the Egyptian queen, from Black Sails’ co-creators and EPs, Johnathan E. Steinberg and Robert Levine, and EP Dan Shotz.
Poker Central and Amazon Appstore, in partnership with Zynga as its mobile gaming partner, signed a sponsorship deal for the 2017 Super High Roller Bowl taking place from May 28 to June 1.The deal includes branded broadcast integrations at the bowl and additional high-stakes tournaments throughout the year.
