Amid the hoopla of mock drafts, music, Manziel’s logo and Jadeveon Clowney being selected with the first pick of the NFL Draft, Roger Goodell spoke with Chris Berman on ESPN about several issues impacting the sport. The NFL Commissioner continued to push playoff expansion, noting "If it doesn’t happen this year, I do think it will happen the following season." He also reiterated Wednesday’s comments that the league wants the Buffalo Bills to stay in Western New York, but that a new stadium is necessary for long-term viability. He also addressed Michael Sam’s entry in the draft. "I have great respect for Michael, his courage, his decision to become public, and I’m optimistic that he’s going to get that opportunity, and hopefully he can play at this level," he said.
FOX Sports 1 is taking sports to the barbershop, announcing the launch of Back to the Shop, where, according to the network, "this generation’s superstar athletes talk smack, let their opinions fly, share hilarious stories and recount tales of past glory with some very special friends and a very special barber." The half-hour series is filmed at Jordan Sport Barbershop featuring barber Jose Moises Lopez, aka Jordan, and premieres Saturday, May 24 at 7p before moving to its regular time slot on Tuesdays at 8:30p on May 27, where it will be paired each week with The Pecos League, another series from FOX Sports Originals.
