The Coalition for Innovative Media Measurement announced a new research program focused on exploring how the industry can unlock the full potential of data collaboration and clean room solutions in a sustainable way. “Major media owners and agencies are working with partners to establish customer data platforms, clean rooms, measurement offerings and activation capabilities – and are positive about the future growth opportunities presented by data collaboration,” said Jon Watts, Managing Director, CIMM. “However, many industry participants believe there are challenges in unlocking the full potential: coordination is limited; many processes are inefficient and time-consuming; the ecosystem is deeply fragmented; and data quality and identity resolution remain significant challenges.” The study will focus on current use cases, emerging opportunities and future priorities, working with CIMM members and other industry participants, including major networks and programmers, MVPDs, streamers, TV OEMs, vendors, agencies and advertisers.

The Impact Network inked a new content partnership with FOX First Run that expands Impact’s entertainment programming and hours beyond the current two-hour “Super Saturday” block into 28 hours per week. The new block will span weekdays from 4p-8p, adding 20 hours of new content with the eight expanded hours on Impact’s “Super Saturdays” line up from 3p-11p. The content sharing agreement includes episodes from the FOX First Run library, with “You Bet Your Life” with Jay Leno & Kevin Eubanks, “Divorce Court” with Judges Faith Jenkins & Star Jones, “DISH Nation,” “Laughs,” and “25 Words or Less” with Meredith Vieira.

PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT

Guy Pearce (“L.A. Confidential”) is making a return visit to Australian soap “Neighbors,” cancelled in 2022 after 37 years and now revived by Amazon Freevee and Prime Video. Pearce starred on the show from 1986-89, then appeared in what was to have been the show’s finale. On Channel Nine podcast “Weekend Talks,” Pearce said he’s in the process of working out a “respectful” way to extricate his character from the show that was his first big break in the business.

Play.Works, a provider of CTV games, has partnered with Authentic Hendrix and Experience Hendrix to launch slots and video trivia games inspired by the lyrics and music of Jimi Hendrix. The CTV slots game is available on Roku and will soon be rolled out to other partners. Later this year comes a Jimi Hendrix trivia game. “It’s a step towards the future,” said Experience Hendrix President and CEO Janie Hendrix.

The season two teaser for Freeform’s “Cruel Summer” had over 24 million views across Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, YouTube and Instagram in its first ten days, on pace to become the net’s most-watched trailer ever. “Fans have been eagerly awaiting season two of ‘Cruel Summer’ and we are so happy to see them engaging with the new trailer,” said Simran Sethi, EVP, Programming and Content Strategy, ABC Entertainment and Freeform. “The imaginative creative team has outdone themselves with the new and intriguing mystery at the center of this next chapter. June 5 is just around the corner and there are going to be a lot of surprises in store that our viewers will love.”

Psychological thriller “The Clearing” drops May 24 on Hulu with two episodes. The series is based on stories of real-life cults.

Global esports organization and gaming collective Gen.G and McDonald’s are expanding their esports partnership in key local markets with the launch of another year of the McDonald’s Gaming League. McDonald’s owners/operators and Gen.G will use their esports league to engage employees and gaming enthusiasts to elevate the McDonald’s employee experience. This will be the third year for McDonald’s Southern California, Southern Plains (Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas) and DMV (Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia), while Pacific Northwest enters its second year. “McDonald’s employees are definitely no stranger to gaming,” said Patricia Chambers, Director of Media & Partnerships at Davis Elen. “A positive employee experience is of course a priority for McDonalds and offering competitive gaming is a great way to promote that.”
