NBC Sports Group locked in its lineup of game and studio commentators for the upcoming 2015 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs, slating a crew of over 20 play-by-play broadcasters, game analysts, studio hosts and studio analysts to handle microphone duties. With coverage set to begin on April 15, Mike ‘Doc’ Emrick, Eddie Olczyk, and Pierre McGuire will be teamed together for most games during the playoffs, and will call their ninth consecutive Stanley Cup Final together. In addition, Dave Strader will be paired with Brian Engblom for most telecasts. Overall, six broadcast teams are on deck for the first round, with talent that includes Kenny Albert, John Forslund, Gord Miller and Chris Cuthbert handling play-by-play while Bret Hedican and Joe Micheletti will serve as Inside-the-Glass analysts. The studio team will find host Liam McHugh joining analysts and former players Mike Milbury and Keith Jones to cover its fifth consecutive postseason.

Through five games, which included MLB Opening Night and a MLB Opening Day quadruple-header, ESPN averaged 1,370,000 viewers versus year-ago Nielsen numbers, and is up 50% in rating with a 0.9. Monday’s lineup grew 21% in viewership, to snare 803,000 viewers.
Around the dial, MLB Network scored its most-watched Opening Day ever, with 17 consecutive hours of live studio coverage that included the premiere of the regular season morning show MLB Central. Viewership for the day rose 16% higher than Opening Day 2014, peaking with 222,000 viewers during MLB Tonight at 7p. Meanwhile, the debut of MLB Central at 10a, grew the time period’s total viewing average by 33% over 2014.
Rugby World Cup Limited selected ESPN Latin America and ESPN Brazil to play host with the exclusive South America rights and both outlets offering live coverage of at least 16 matches. ESPN Latin America will also air all of the matches in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.

Four-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champ Jeff Gordon debuts as a live race analyst for FOX Sports on Friday, where he will call the NASCAR XFINITY Series at Texas Motor Speedway on FOX Sports 1 at 8:30p. The race marks the first of two consecutive full-race appearances for Gordon, currently in his final full year of Sprint Cup Series competition.
Universal Sports Network brings back the Wings for Life World Run for a second year on Sunday, May 3, 2015, starting at 6:30a. the six-hour telecast of the global simultaneous running race will showcase thousands of runners competing in 35 races who will be pursued by a moving finish line all to raise funds for spinal cord injury research.
POP TV is jumping into the ring, reportedly locking in a deal with promotion Paragon Pro Wrestling for a show that will run on the network. Todd Kenely will call the in-ring action.

MLB is launching a "Franchise Four" promotion designed to pin down players fans think had the most impact on each of the 30 teams. MLB.com is listing eight players per team with addition balloting for the greatest living players, Negro Leagues players and pioneers. Voting ends May 8 with winners announced ahead of the All-Star Game on July 14.
The Pro Football Retired Players Association is deepening ties with MetLife, announcing that the organization will now offer a dental plan via MetLife to its membership of 22,000 former players. The plan will be administered through the organization’s “Greater Good Fund,” and contingent on the Eighth Circuit’s approval of the class action settlement between the NFL and retired players that created the Fund.
Spanish startup First V1sion will see its on-body sports wearable used during a broadcast of a Euroleague basketball match on Friday, offering fans a “first-hand player perspective of one of the teams to watching fans,” according to TechCrunch. Its wearable tech will be worn by players for the first time by a Lithuanian team, offering an embedded HD camera and microphone, sited on the chest, as well as sensors that monitor heart rate in order to broadcast first person views.
RT Software will offer tOG-Vista, its latest graphics solution, for companies looking to utilize static cameras to “simplify or reduce the cost of live HD sports productions,” according to the company. The system will look to offer high quality user defined HD output across the entire field of play using a pair of static UHD 4k cameras, offering multiple usage scenarios and consisting of two 4k static cameras mounted close to each other at the field of play.
Hawk-Eye has been tapped to offer a goal-line technology system for the Women’s World Cup this summer. The will mark the first time that the goal-line technology will be offered at the women’s tournament. The system features seven cameras per goal and offering a high-frame-rate and vision-processing techniques to locate the ball at all times.
Peter Griffiths has been tapped as Chief Operating Officer of NFL International, where he will be responsible for NFL offices in China and Mexico and oversee the analysis of growth opportunities in new territories such as Brazil and Germany. He will report to Mark Waller.
