Google has launched the Switch to Android app on the App Store, enabling users to more easily move from an iPhone to a smartphone running on Android OS. The app helps import contacts and photos, and instructs users how to turn off Apple’s iMessage so they can get messages on their new device.

AR development platform Effect House has gone into open beta on TikTok. The platform allows creators to make AR effects that others can use and offers creation tools and templates.

TikTok is also testing a dislike button for comments. The dislike would not be public or viewable to the commenter. “We’ve started testing a way to let individuals identify comments they believe to be irrelevant or inappropriate,” said the company a blog post. “This community feedback will add to the range of factors we already use to help keep the comment section consistently relevant and a place for genuine engagement.”

An unauthorized Fox News account appeared on Donald Trump’s Truth Social app last week. “Great to have RSS feed for @FoxNews now LIVE here on TRUTH! This adds to @OAN and @NewsMax,” tweeted Truth Social chief executive Devin Nunes. The account had a verification symbol with Fox News’ name and logo, but a Fox News spokesperson told Axios and other outlets, “We are not on Truth Social.” While other media companies appear to have accounts on Truth Social but do not, they include small “BOT” disclaimers. The Fox News account does not have a disclaimer.

Sinclair Broadcast Group and USSI Global are partnering to offer a commercial datacasting service using the NextGen Broadcast standard (ATSC 3.0). The pilot program will deliver local content, advertising, and data files to the growing Electric Vehicle Charging station market. Similar to a typical digital-out-of-home solution for foot traffic near an outdoor kiosk, the datacasting application supports multi-tenant advertising and real-time updates of local content.

On Friday, Twitter’s board of directors unanimously adopted a limited duration shareholder rights plan, also called a poison pill, following Elon Musk’s unsolicited proposal to acquire the platform. The move reduces “the likelihood that any entity, person or group gains control of Twitter through open market accumulation without paying all shareholders an appropriate control premium or without providing the Board sufficient time to make informed judgments and take actions that are in the best interests of shareholders,” according to Twitter. In short, it makes a hostile takeover very complicated. Musk had made what he deemed a best and final offer to buy Twitter for $54.20 a share, which valued the platform at $43 billion. The newly adopted rights plan runs for one year and “does not prevent the Board from engaging with parties or accepting an acquisition proposal if the Board believes that it is in the best interests of Twitter and its shareholders,” the company stated.

Imagine Communications introduced Imagine Aviator, a cloud-native platform that enables broadcasters, MVPDs and digital-first providers to plan, make and monetize premium-quality linear and OTT content from a single, unified platform. “We understand the challenges and complexities that premium brands have in today’s fluid media landscape,” said Rob Malcolm, Chief Product Officer at Imagine Communications. “With Aviator, we are bringing together our experience and intellectual property in a unique, cloud-native platform that maximizes monetization of content across broadcast and OTT platforms today ? and readies media companies to adapt and thrive no matter what the future holds.”

Pay-TV service Evoca TV has demonstrated how emergency information can be provided to video subscribers when those viewers are tuned to programming delivered over the internet. Digital Alert Systems’ DASDEC platform is integrated within the Evoca network to provide emergency information throughout the ecosystem. Evoca’s encoding architecture processes local and national alerts, routing the information to the necessary devices based on specific criteria. Evoca is powered, in part, by broadcast technology ATSC 3.0, which includes a provision for advanced emergency alert messages.

Adobe announced that Frame.io’s video collaboration tools will now be available to Creative Cloud customers as part of their Creative Cloud subscriptions. The integrated post-production review and approval workflow allows project stakeholders to collaborate seamlessly in the cloud. Other new updates include native M1 support for After Effects; Scene Edit Detection powered by Adobe Sensei for After Effects; a reimagined Import, Header Bar, and Export for Premiere Pro; and Auto Color powered by Adobe Sensei for Premiere Pro.

VideoByte, provider of CTV advertising technology, has selected software platform DoubleVerify as their premiere partner. VideByte’s Compliance Toolset is aimed at future-proofing of CTV with the detection and filtration of invalid traffic through DoubleVerify’s solution.

IAB Tech Lab announced an update to the ads.txt specification which they have opened for public comment for 60 days. The update includes two new values for publishers to declare within their ads.txt files, “ownerdomain” and “managerdomain,” which helps increase the transparency into seller relationships via sellers.json and further strengthens ads.txt as a tool to reduce fraud in buying and selling of advertisements on websites, mobile apps and connected TV. The “ownerdomain” value is used to specify the domain of the business that owns the website that the ad is being served on, while the “managerdomain” enables the publisher to declare the primary or exclusive monetization partner of that sites inventory.

Horizon Media introduced a new analytics tool, eMbrace, which the company says outputs an “equity index score” enabling marketers to make their media mixes “more inclusive of poly-cultural segments to better drive connections, resonance, and business outcomes.” Developed in partnership with Nielsen, the platform is being used in pre-upfront planning with clients.

Vistar Media announced the release of dynamic creative capabilities for any DOOH screen connected to the Vistar supply-side platform. Vistar has developed a standardized spec for dynamic creative format for DOOH that works on all major DOOH software stacks. This solution is built to provide maximum flexibility in working with different external data feeds, whether an advertiser has proprietary or preferred data or wants to work with Vistar to identify a provider.

Goodway Group, the data-driven and technology-enabled digital media and marketing services firm, has launched a new people-based identity solution, Passport One, offering marketers with a privacy-forward proprietary database to reach customers, enhance existing first-party data, and create new opportunities for closed-loop measurement.

Infillion announced the launch of AttnX, an advertising product built for CTV, desktop, and mobile that secures consumers’ opt-in interest before the ad experience begins. AttnX is the first of several products to be launched under the company’s new brand name, Infillion, launched in February as the result of Gimbal’s acquisition of adtech CTV pioneer true[X] from Disney in late 2020.

Data activation, curation and identity platform Audigent announced the release of CognitivePMPs, a privacy-centric, cookieless data and inventory product to help advertisers curate and buy programmatic inventory. Comscore will be the first partner for PMP product utilizing their Predictive Audiences segments.

More than one-third (38%) of consumers incorrectly recall their online shopping behavior when asked, according to DISQ’s “Mind the Gap” study. There was a correlation between those who were highly confident in their recall ability and those who recalled their behavior incorrectly. “The Say-Do Gap has always existed, but as consumers conducted more of their purchase journeys online, marketers gained access to adtech measures of consumer behavior such as cookies, mobile IDs and IP addresses that gave imperfect, but easy-to-use metrics,” said Anne Hunter, VP of Product Marketing. “Now, with the usefulness of these technologies deprecating, self-reported measures of behavior may return to vogue – but the risks of relying exclusively on consumer recollection without behavioral confirmation are huge.”

Yahoo has teamed with Cross Screen Media, specializing in optimized local TV and CTV ad planning and measurement, to enable more strategic planning, efficiency and measurement for advertisers ahead of 2022 midterm campaigns. Yahoo will also be Cross Screen Media’s first programmatic partner to utilize the company’s new measurement solution, ScreenImpact.

Canoe Ventures and GAC Media are expanding their partnership to explore ways for Canoe to technically support GAC Media in their advertising initiatives around addressable TV, FAST channels and across their media portfolio. The initiatives build on the partnership between Canoe and GAC Media supporting revenue optimization of the company’s linear channels.

Out of home advertising revenue increased 16.7% in 2021 versus the year prior, accounting for $7.1 billion, according to the Out of Home Advertising Association of America. Digital OOH is leading the overall growth, with a 22.7% jump compared to 2020. Fourth quarter total OOH revenue increased 37.4%while DOOH grew 49%. In 2021, all top ten industry product categories increased and eight grew double digits, including Local Services & Amusements, Retail, Media & Advertising, Insurance & Real Estate, Restaurants, Government Politics and Organizations, Financial, and Automotive Dealers and Services.

Spotify Greenroom has been rebranded as Spotify Live. The live audio chatroom app, launched in fall 2020, will be integrated into the main Spotify app.

FIFA has launched FIFA+, a digital platform offering access to live soccer matches, interactive games, news and other video content. “FIFA+ represents the next step in our vision to make football truly global and inclusive, and it underpins FIFA’s core mission of expanding and developing football globally,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino. “This project represents a cultural shift in the way different types of football fans want to connect…. It will accelerate the democratisation of football.”

National Geographic announced the launch of National Geographic Premium with Disney+, a subscription offering that features Disney+, Nat Geo original shows, documentaries and print products, starting at $10.99/month.

Filmzie, the free movie and TV streaming platform, is launching its first US FAST channel, available on TCL TVs. Filmzie’s original programming focuses on full-length feature films.

DEALS

Fyllo, the platform providing data-driven marketing and regulatory solutions, has signed a Stock Purchase Agreement with Semasio, focused on unified targeting for digital marketing. The acquisition will enhance Fyllo’s Data Solutions, including its Data Marketplace, which offers an ecosystem of cannabis and CBD purchase data, with new targeting and distribution capabilities.

OpenWeb, the audience relationship platform, has acquired ADYOULIKE, a global advertising platform. The acquisition connects OpenWeb’s network of publishers, including Forbes, Newsweek, and Refinery29, with ADYOULIKE’s technology, delivering brand placements to through social advertising experiences.

Content experience platform EX.CO, which powers personalized interactions around the web, has acquired Bibblio, the machine-learning technology company with AI-driven recommendation capabilities. In addition to launching targeted, interactive experiences for different audience segments, EX.CO’s customers will now be able to surface contextual videos and AI-driven product recommendations.
