Ryan Murphy revealed that Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Kathy Bates will all be back for American Horror Story’s eighth season. Bates was unavailable for last season’s Cult because of her commitment to Netflix series Disjointed, but the comedy will not be returning.
 
Stranger Things’ kid stars are all getting a pay boost for the show’s upcoming third season. According to Deadline, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo and Caleb McLaughlin are set to make $150,000 per episode. Millie Bobby Brown, considered the sci-fi drama’s breakout star, is reportedly earning more than the three boys.
 
Neal Mohan, chief product officer for YouTube, will headline the 2018 NAB Show Opening on Monday, April 9 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The opening event will also feature NAB President and CEO Gordon Smith’s “State of the Broadcasting Industry” address and presentation of the NAB Distinguished Service Award to Good Morning America co-host Robin Roberts.
 
MSNBC recently announced it is launching a new OTT app, with NBC News chairman Andrew Lack saying, “I think we’ve got to open that door.” Lack is hardly alone – operators and media companies are finding OTT services mission critical to their success. So expect direct to consumer OTT services to be a hot topic at NAB 2018. Amazon Prime Video is launching more sports programming under the All or Nothing banner. The docu-series will give unprecedented access to a team’s entire season. Netflix announced a new show from Conde Nast Entertainment. Fastest Car launches Friday, April 6, with souped-up “sleeper” cars going head-to-head with one of the world’s most sought-after supercars.
 
Roku’s free, ad-supported VOD offering, The Roku Channel, is set to debut on select Samsung smart TVs this summer. The move could possibly pave the way for expansions to other streaming platforms not powered by the Roku OS.

Shout! Factory and ITV Studios Global Entertainment struck a distribution deal to bring a library of 135 iconic films and TV series to entertainment platforms in North America. Multi-year pact gives Shout! Factory extensive rights, including broadcast, video on-demand, streaming and digital.

In the first session following February sweep, Live with Kelly and Ryan (2.5 Live+SD national Nielsen rating, up 9% from the week before) hit a four-week high, blowing past Ellen DeGeneres (new season low 19, down 21%) and into second place among talkers behind leader Dr. Phil (3.2, down 3%). The big week for Live, up 14 % from last year and the only top four talk show in the plus column, was fueled by its Live After Oscar episode on March 5.
 
Entertainment Tonight (3.2, up 3%) finished first among magazines after a big night covering the Oscars and was the only mag to move up week-to-week, scoring its highest ratings since the week of February 5.
 
Who Wants To Be A Millionaire’s American Pride Week, saluting unsung heroes from teachers to police officers, grew from the prior week in Households (+6%), Total Viewers (+4%) and Women 25-54 (+17%).
