Donald Trump’s presidential campaign is getting the miniseries treatment by HBO. The project is based on the yet-to-be-released third Game Change novel by Mark Halperin and John Heilemann, co-authors of the series that influenced HBO’s 2012 film Game Change.
PBS pulled the plug on Mercy Street, after two seasons. The Civil War-era series, PBS’s first original American drama in over a decade, was scrapped over funding issues and production timelines.
Following its launch strategy for Beyond, Freeform is making Famous In Love the next “binge-from-the-start” show in their programming slate. The series, which makes its linear premiere on Tuesday, April 18 at 9p, will be available the same day on multiple digital platforms, including the Freeform app, Freeform.com, On Demand and Hulu.
MTV announced its full roster of performers for the 2017 MTV Woodies. Rick Ross, Desiigner, D.R.A.M., Lil Yachty, Jidenna, Khalid and Starley take the stage for the main show along with presenters The Chainsmokers, A$AP Ferg, Young M.A and Bibi Bourelly. Show airs live Thursday, March 16 at 11p from Austin, Texas during the South by Southwest Music Festival.
Turner Classic Movies honors father-and-son icons Carl Reiner and Rob Reiner with a hand and footprint ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theater IMAX in Hollywood during the eighth annual TCM Classic Film Festival on Friday, April 7. It marks the first time a father and son are jointly honored.

David Farr (The Night Manager) is developing a TV version of offbeat assassin film Hanna with NBCUniversal International Studios. Farr co-wrote the 2011 movie which starred Saoirse Ronan as the daughter of an ex-government operative who turned into a killing machine.
Nickelodeon greenlit a third season of competition series Paradise Run, with Daniella Monet (Victorious) returning as host. Production begins in Hawaii this spring.
Cartoon Network ordered animated series OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes and announced an integrated console game developed with indie video game studio Capybara Games. The show is set in Lakewood Plaza, a mall for heroes.
FX’s Baskets was renewed for a third season. Comedy premieres in 2018.
FOX launches You The Jury, a live unscripted series, with viewers serving as trial jurors in civil cases. Hosted by Fox News‘ former prosecutor, judge and a syndication court show star Jeanine Pirro, the show features six well-known attorneys arguing their cases starting Friday, April 7 at 9p.
The wait is over. HBO finally set a premiere date for Season 7 of Game of Thrones: Sunday, July 16. The network released the news as an elaborate Facebook Live video announcement that was watched by more than 150,000 fans.
TV Land’s Nobodies bows Wednesday, March 29 at 10p. Written and executive produced by Groundlings alums Hugh Davidson, Larry Dorf and Rachel Ramras, series revolves around the trio trying to land one of their famous friends for a feature script they’ve developed.
In other TV Land news, season two of Lopez debuts Wednesday, March 29 at 10:30p.
Restaurants work to boost their online reputation in Help My Yelp. Hosted by chef and restaurant consultant Monti Carlo, the six-episode series premieres Monday, April 10 at 10p on Food Network.

AXS TV debuts Ringo Starr and His 2016 All Starr Band on Sunday, March 26 at 10p. CBS News chief medical correspondent Dr. Jon LaPook anchors a special “Beyond Cancer” edition of CBS Sunday Morning on Sunday, March 12 at 9a, exploring new frontiers in cancer treatment.

When it comes to delivering video, monetization is a major issue, and ad blockers aren’t helping. AMC’s Preacher is expanding its cast as it gears up for its sophomore season. Noah Taylor (Game of Thrones, Deep Water), Pip Torrens (Star Wars: The Force Awakens, The Crown) and Julie Ann Emery (Fargo, Better Call Saul) have signed on as series regulars. In addition, Malcolm Barrett (War on Everyone, Dear White People), Ronald Guttman (Homeland, Mozart in the Jungle) and Justin Prentice (13 Reasons Why, Malibu Country) are set for recurring roles.

The 2017 iHeartRadio Music Awards on Turner’s TBS, TNT and truTV, drew a television audience of 4.1 million viewers in Live + Same Day delivery for the live and encore simulcasts on Sunday, March 5. That’s up +39% compared to last year’s presentation. The Turner networks’ audience growth also extended to targeted demos, as the live simulcast and encores delivered 2.2 million A18-49 (up +36% vs. 2016) and 1 million A18-34 (up +22%).
Bravo’s Vanderpump Rules grew from the prior week’s episode for the second consecutive week among P18-49 and P25-54, delivering 1.4 million P18-49 (up +4% versus the prior week’s episode), 1.6 million P25-54 (up +1%), and 2.3 million total viewers. Summer House had its highest rated episode since the series premiere among all key demos, earning 697,000 P18-49 (up +10% versus the prior week’s episode), 762,000 P25-54 (up +5%), and 1.1 million total viewers (up +2%).
Univision Deportes had its the strongest start to a year ever, and the fourth straight year of growth during the first two months of the calendar year. On January 15 in Liga MX play, the Toluca vs. America match averaged 624,000 Persons 2+ and 375,000 A18-49. On February 26, the CONCACAF U-20 Semi-Final match between Mexico and Honduras averaged 144,000 Persons 2+ and 76,000 A18-49 on UDN. The Championship match between the United States and Honduras aired this past Sunday, March 5 (161,000 Persons 2+ and 110,000 A18-49).
