IN THE NEWS

FOX News Digital marked five consecutive months as the top news brand with multiplatform views. The milestone also represented two straight years as number one with multiplatform minutes for the network, according to Comscore. FOX News’ mobile app surpassed CNN’s mobile app for the second consecutive month.

Tyra Banks is leaving the dance floor after three seasons. Banks first replaced Tom Bergeron as the “Dancing with the Stars” host in season 29 in 2020. Len Goodman, Cheryl Burke and Mark Ballas will also depart from their longstanding roles on the series.

“SNL” post-production editors have reached a tentative agreement, sidestepping a strike. The group, organized with the Motion Picture Editors Guild, and part of IATSE Local 700, first voiced concerns for better conditions in October 2022. If ratified, the deal promises pay increases of up to 60% and immediate raises, as well as healthcare benefits, ratification bonuses, employer-paid meals, and transportation and hotel accommodations for employees with short turnarounds between long shifts.

After nine seasons, Kelly McCreary has moved on from Grey Sloan Memorial. The actor behind the character Maggie Pierce, Meredith Grey’s half-sister and head of cardiothoracic surgery on ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy,” will still return for the season 19 finale, following her goodbye on April 13. Executive producer and showrunner Krista Vernoff said, “Kelly McCreary is a writer’s dream come true; brilliant, nuanced, thoughtful, and kind.”

PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT

Peacock renewed the original drama “Bel-Air.” The streamer greenlit a third season of the series from Westbrook Studios and Universal Television, starring Jabari Banks and Coco Jones in leading roles. Inspired by Morgan Cooper’s short film, “Bel-Air” is a modern-day reimagining of the ‘90s sitcom, “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” The series’ original premiere in February 2022 first made headlines as the most-watched premiere on the streamer. New episodes stream Thursdays through April 27.

Nickelodeon and Paramount+ announced a sequel to “Good Burger.” Original stars Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell have signed on to reprise their roles as Dex and Ed in “Good Burger 2,” based on the 1997 film spinoff of the Nickelodeon sketch comedy series “All That.” The movie will follow the duo as they reunite in the present day at fast-food restaurant Good Burger with a new group of employees. Production is set to begin in May, with a premiere slated for later this year exclusively on Paramount+.

Hulu scrapped the pilot inspired by Brooklyn Nets General Manager Joe Tsai. Ronny Chieng had previously signed on to star as Tsai in the 20th Television pilot about his real-life experiences.

Michael Weaver is set to direct a drama pilot at NBC. The “Good Girls” alum will lead the production team for the Jenna Bans and Bill Krebs pilot about an Instagram-famous book reviewer.

NEW & RETURNING SERIES

Warner Bros. Discovery, GroupM and Cocina Media are cooking up something new for Hispanic audiences. With celebrity chef Aarón Sánchez, Discovery Familia’s latest original series “El Toque de Aarón” sees Sánchez and his team as they help Latino restaurants in the LA area become more successful.

A new episode of CNBC’s “Blood & Money” debuts on March 21. The Dick Wolf series chronicles notorious murder cases and trials motivated by greed. March 21’s will center on the discovery of a local businessman’s remains.

COMING UP

“American Dad!” returns to TBS on March 27. Voiced by Seth MacFarlane, Wendy Schaal, Scott Grimes and others, the Smith family takes to the screen for the series’ 18th season.

An all-new season of “Growing Belushi” premieres on the Discovery Channel on April 5. Led by Jim Belushi as he combines his artistic talents with a passion to establish a cannabis business in Oregon, Belushi and his team of farmers work to build a national cannabis brand. In the season premiere, Jim picks up the pieces after his farm suffers a fire. Season debuts at 9p on the network.

“Rabbit Hole” is back with more twists and turns for a two-episode premiere on March 26 on Paramount+. Navigating a world of deception, nothing is what it seems when John Weir is framed for murder. Stars include Kiefer Sutherland, Charles Dance, and Meta Golding.

CASTING

Wendi McLendon-Covey takes center stage in “St. Denis Medical” pilot. NBC tapped the actor to star in the single-camera broadcast mockumentary comedy written by Justin Spitzer and Eric Ledgin, the duo behind “Superstore” and “American Auto.” Ruben Fleisher will direct. At an Oregon hospital, doctors and nurses try their best in an underfunded, understaffed environment.

Terry Crews joined the comic strip-inspired CBS comedy “JumpStart.” The actor will lead and executive produce the multi-camera comedy pilot that follows a police officer, his partner and his wife, set in Philadelphia.

Geoff Stults stars in a recurring role in “The Company You Keep.” The actor from “Little Fires Everywhere” has signed onto the series which is led and executive produced by Milo Ventimiglia. Based on the Korean format “My Fellow Citizens,” the story centers on a con man and undercover CIA officer who fall in love.

Taylor Sheridan’s “Bass Reeves” tapped five new actors. Joaquina Kalukango, Lonnie Chavis, Rob Morgan, Ryan O’Nan and Justin Hurtt-Dunkley will star in recurring roles alongside previously-announced cast members David Oyelowo and Dennis Quaid.

GOING GLOBAL
