Food Network host Bobby Flay and his daughter Sophie hit the streets in search of the greatest local dishes around in new Food Network series The Flay List, premiering Thursday, April 11 at 10:30p.
Broadway producer Scott Delman and Lionsgate are teaming to develop a theatrical production of ABC-then-CMT country music drama Nashville. Delman, who acquired theatrical rights from Lionsgate and ABC Studios, will serve lead producer of the musical.
Vancouver will be home to 10 drama pilots this season, up from 6 last year and more than any other city, reports Deadline. The overall number of broadcast drama pilots is 35, down from 41 in 2018.
Entertainment company Boat Rocker Media has made an investment in talent management and production company Untitled Entertainment. The partnership will enable Untitled, in collaboration with Boat Rocker, to expand all aspects of its business, including in the areas of television, film and digital production. Untitled will continue to operate under its current senior leadership team.
BYUtv musical improv comedy Show Offs has been picked up for seasons two and three. And that’s before season one launches Monday, March 18 at 8p.
Freeform picked up one-hour drama Motherland: Fort Salem, from executive producers Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Kevin Messick, for ten episodes. Series is set in an alternate, present-day America where witches ended their persecution 300 years ago by cutting a deal with the U.S. government to fight for their country.

PBS picked up India-set British period drama Beecham House, produced by Bend It TV for ITV. Six-parter will join the PBS Masterpiece block of programming.
America’s Got Talent will be back for season 14 on NBC on Tuesday, May 28 at 8p. Gabrielle Union and Julianne Hough join returning judges Simon Cowell and Howie Mandel. Terry Crews, who hosted the recent season of America’s Got Talent: The Champions will host. The next night, May 29, comes the season eight launch of American Ninja Warrior 8p. E! correspondent Zuri Hall joins the show as a sideline reporter.
The second annual Freeform Summit will be held in Hollywood on Wednesday, March 27. Along with network stars, the event will spotlight influencers and tastemakers who have dedicated their voices to effecting change. A “reimagined” beauty pageant will provide “a stage for everyone” to be ambassadors for change, and candid conversations will explore topics like authentic storytelling, inclusion and mentorship.
Anthony Anderson will take his sixth turn as host for the NAACP Image Awards. Winners of the org’s 50th awards will be revealed during a two-hour live special on TV One on Saturday, March 30 at 9p.

Turner Classic Movies looks at the role journalism played in the world of cinema in month-long programming event Journalism in the Movies. Joining TCM host Ben Mankiewicz to discuss relevant films are CNN’s Anderson Cooper and CNN political analyst Carl Bernstein. Brands will up their spend on data and data-related services this year, according to a report released by the IAB. The Outlook for Data 2019: A Snapshot Into the Evolving Role of Audience Insight found that 69% of respondents increased the amount spent on audience data and related solutions last year versus 2017, and 78% expect to spend more in 2019. Fifteen percent expect to invest the same amount, while 3% expect to spend less.

Car advertisers are expecting a rough ride in 2019, according to Zenith’s Automotive Advertising Expenditure Forecasts, thanks to trade tensions. Ad spend is expected to rise by 0.8% this year, versus 1.5% in 2018. TV advertising accounts for 54.5% of category spend, versus 32.9% global average across categories, as automakers find internet spending less useful for consumers don’t finalize auto purchases online. Still, with more people researching cars online, Zenith projects auto ad spend on the internet will rise to 25.6% (from 22.9% in 2018) by 2020.
Snapchat and Universal Pictures have teamed for a campaign for Illumination Entertainment’s The Secret Life of Pets 2. Snapchat users with Secret Life lenses can bring their dog or cat into the frame, and the pet will get an animated mouth and voice inspired by the movie’s characters. It’s Snapchat’s first sponsorship deal for the cat-and-dog lenses, introduced last year.
Centro, a provider of advertising technology, announced the expansion of programmatic advertising capabilities for native and digital audio on its digital media platform, Basis. The platform integrations give advertisers access to more global ad opportunities, with supply partners for native (including Google Ad Manager, Nativo, Rubicon Project, Smaato, and Verizon Media) and digital audio (including Targetspot and TuneIn).
Programmatic video platform Tremor Video DSP announced the expansion of its suite of connected capabilities, with CTV solutions that include seamless activation, holistic audience targeting, custom and advanced creative, as well as audience measurement and attribution. “Brands are increasingly recognizing the value of CTV – it allows them to engage massive audiences with creative, cinematic storytelling while leveraging the targeting abilities of digital,” said CEO Ofer Druker. “We are dedicated to helping marketers tell their stories as effectively as possible.”
Comcast is acquiring BluVector, which detects and analyzes security threats using AI and machine learning. Comcast said it plans to grow BluVector’s business and develop new cybersecurity technology.
Samsung is partnering with sleep and meditation app Calm to help Samsung Health’s 60 million users chill out. With the integration, much of the content on the $59.99/year Calm app will be free via Samsung Health.
Technology company Pub Ocean is teaming with native ad platform Prezna to integrate Pub Ocean’s LiveYield, a real-time revenue analytics platform, into Prezna’s content distribution technology. Digital publishers on Prezna will have the visibility required to see which of their campaigns are profitable, and which aren’t. “LiveYield is now putting a real-time dollar sign on the scalable native advertising campaigns Prezna clients have today,” said Chris Ingham Brooke, Founder & CEO of Pub Ocean. “Many publishers don’t realize that, even with the best content distribution strategies, they are missing key metrics that impact their ROI tremendously. Via its new Alexa skill, Roku devices now support voice controls by Amazon’s Alexa. “Consumers often have multiple voice ecosystems in their homes. By allowing our customers to choose Alexa, in addition to Roku voice search and controls, and other popular voice assistants, we are strengthening the value Roku offers as a neutral platform in home entertainment,” said Ilya Asnis, SVP of Roku OS at Roku.
Shipments of wearable devices hit a new high of 59 million in 4Q18, up 31% during the quarter, according to the International Data Corporation. For the year, Apple had the most market share (27%), followed by Xiaomi (14%), Fitbit (8%), Huawei (7%) and Samsung (6%)

Banijay Rights signed a multi-year, first look development deal with UK independent production company Greenacre Films. The agreement calls for the companies to work together to develop and produce TV series for UK, US and international markets.
SYFY and NBCUniversal Networks sib Sky are teaming for VR/AR experience Eleven Eleven in Europe. “We are pioneering an innovative scripted format for science fiction content that blends the best of theater, gaming and cinema to create unique VR and AR experiences,” said Steve Patscheck, EVP Global Programming, NBCUniversal International Networks. “By creating an original piece of IP, SYFY was able to design specifically for VR and AR, all the while exploring how immersive technologies could heighten the thrill of storytelling.”

It was a tie in Monday’s reality show demo race, with ABC’s The Bachelor and NBC’s The Voice both scoring 2.0 among A18-49. The Bachelor drew 7.23 million total viewers, while The Voice delivered a night-winning 10.88 million.
HBO’s Leaving Neverland delivered 1.3 million viewers on Sunday night, making it the third-most-watched documentary premiere on the network in ten years. Across on-demand and digital platforms, the number rises to 1.7 million viewers.
For the week ending February 24, ratings for most syndicated shows were clipped by preemptions for the announcement of felony criminal charges against Empire star Jussie Smollett. Not all shows were hurt, however – Ellen DeGeneres (2.4 Live+SD, up 9% from the week before) moved into second place behind leader Dr. Phil (3.2, down 3%). Live with Kelly and Ryan held steady with 2.3. And Steve Harvey’s Steve was steady with a season high 1.4, up 56% from last year.
Divide & Conquer: The Story of Roger Ailes drew a soft 228,000 viewers and 52,000 among A18-49 for A&E on Sunday. The biopic’s TV debut was preceded by a five-week theatrical release.
