~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~

Fox LOOK, the new division of Fox Networks Group focused on international licensing and production of unscripted programming, made distribution deals with four Emmy Award-winning US-based format producers. The agreements for new projects involve Craig Piligian founder of Pilgrim Films & Television; Andrew Glassman founder of Glassman Media; Scott Sternberg producer of unscripted content; and Scott Satin a veteran producer of reality, game and talk shows. These agreements with all four producers allow Fox LOOK to represent selected formats in the international market.

Golf Channel approved a first-ever morning show with a news/talk show project presently in development and tentatively titled Dawn Patrol. The network plans on airing the show live on weekdays from 7-9a with production based at its Orlando studios. Scheduled to premiere in January 2011, the show will include news and commentary on the major sports and news stories of the day along with field reporting and in-studio guests. Golf Channel is searching nationwide for two co-hosts to lead the morning show.

MTV handed series orders to two scripted projects slated to premiere next year:

  • That Girl (wt) – No, no, not That Girl.  A new That Girl about a coming-of-age series about a 15-year old outsider in school who becomes the center of attention after the kids in her school assume she tried to commit suicide. Lauren Iungerich created the project and will executive produce.
  • Death Valley – and no, not that Death Valley … a different valley.  A horror/comedy series about an elite branch of the LAPD, the Undead Task Force that combats zombies, vampires and werewolves in the San Fernando Valley. Casting thus far includes Caity Lotz (Mad Men) and Tania Raymonde (Lost). Austin Reading and Jillie Kellman Reading are executive producing via Liquid Theory; Eric Weinberg and Tim Healy will also executive produce along with Spider One.

ABC has a fictional political series in the works about the office of Vice President and his chief of staff, cites Variety. Sheldon Turner (Up in the Air) is penning the drama script with Shaun Cassidy and the pair will also executive produce along with Jennifer Klein. ABC Studios is set to produce.

ABC is also developing a series based on the novel The Prince of Tides by author Pat Conroy, per THR. The Prince of Tides was also adapted for a 1991 film starring Nick Nolte and Barbra Streisand and was sold in a script deal to ABC by Sony Pictures Television. Conroy will be involved as a script consultant since the TV adaptation follows the book more closely than did the film version. Eric and Kim Tannenbaum, Mitch Hurwitz and Craig Anderson are all on board to executive produce. Bob Brush (Wonder Years) and Mel Harris are writing the pilot script and will also executive produce.

Emmy Award-winning actor John Larroquette will next be seen during the new season of CBS’ CSI: NY in multiple episodes, reports EW. Larroquette will play Ted Carver, the Deputy Chief of Manhattan Borough Detectives who will likely lock horns with Mac. Larroquette will first appear in the series’ November 5 episode.

Rachael Taylor (Transformers), the Australian former model now actress was cast in ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy for multiple episodes, per EW.

Casting Call: FOX is moving ahead with an eighth season of the original dance competition show So You Think You Can Dance and two upcoming audition dates are now scheduled. Auditions will be held on October 13 in Oakland, CA and also on November 15 in Brooklyn, NY. For full details on these auditions, venues, eligibility requirements and to see additional audition cities, visit www.fox.com/dance .
