Monday’s premiere of NBC’s The Jay Leno Show won its time slot at 10p in HH and among A18-49 in addition to delivering 18.4 million total viewers. In the first half hour Leno delivered a 5.0/12 A18-49 demo, which grew to a 5.2/14 for the second half of the show. Overall, the hour averaged a 5.1/13 in the demo. In household ratings, the first half hour earned an 11.3/18, tho dipped to a 10.8/18 for the second half. The hour averaged an 11.0/18. Source: Nielsen Media Research: Fast Affiliate National Ratings FX will air a one-time-only sneak preview of its new 30m animated series Archer tomorrow at 1030p following the fifth season premiere of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia at 10p. Currently, the six-episode order of Archer is in production and FX will officially debut the series in January 2010. FX has also ordered an additional four more scripts of Archer. FX’s other new six-episode comedy The League will have its premiere date announced soon. Following a successful debut as a special this summer, TLC is premiering Wedded to Perfection as a six-episode series beginning October 2 at 10p. Each one-hour episode spotlights two events managed by the husband and wife team of Jung Lee and Josh Brooks who own the New York-based wedding and evening planning company, Fete. Peacock Productions produces the series for TLC. In other TLC news, the network will debut the second season of I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant starting September 30 at 8p. Ten new 30m episodes will relate stories of women who were not aware they were pregnant until the labor and delivery stages. Each episode also offers questions and quizzes to spur interactivity with viewers. Mike Mathis Productions produces the series. Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Orange County are back beginning November 5 at 10p. A new housewife, Alexis Bellino joins the clique and the group says good-bye to housewife Jeana Keough. This new season five of The Real Housewives of Orange County was produced by Evolution Media. HBO reported the second season finale of True Blood on Sunday at 9p attracted 5.1 million total viewers which was more than double the season one finale episode at 2.5 million total viewers. Following at 10p, the frosh season conclusion of Hung drew in 2.9 million total viewers. HGTV’s season four finale of HGTV Design Star airing at 10p last Sunday posted a 1.4 rating among A25-54 and a 1.17 rating with A18-49. Additionally, the episode delivered 2.5 million HH viewers and 3.0 million A18+ viewers. Airing on the eighth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, HISTORY ran its recent Emmy Award-winning special 102 Minutes That Changed America at 9p. The special, airing without commercial breaks delivered 1.7 million A25-54 viewers and 1.5 million A18-49 viewers. Betty White will receive the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award during the 16th annual SAG Awards on January 23. White starred in two classic TV series during her career, playing Sue Ann Nivens on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Rose Nylund on the Golden Girls. White continues to be active as an actor at the age of 87. She recently appeared in the romantic film The Proposal with Sandra Bullock and is currently in production on the Disney film You Again starring Kristen Bell. The Documentary Channel (DOC) made an exclusive multi-year deal with 7th Art Releasing to broadcast a package of ten film festival movies from the 7th Art library. The films will begin airing this November and some of the titles include Word Wars, the official selection at the Sundance Film Festival along with Beyond Wiseguys: Italian Americans, Damned to Heaven and Family Inc. among others. ~ PRODUCTION AND DEVELOPMENT ~
CBS gave a premium script order to an untitled half-hour multigenerational comedy about a couple moving in together who don’t want to turn out like their parents, reports Variety. The story, set in Brooklyn, will also use flashbacks showing the actors playing their roles as children as well as showing their parents in the present day and 20 years ago. Andrew Secunda is set to write the script and Sony Pictures Television will produce along with Tantamount. Secunda will executive produce with Tantamount’s Eric Tannenbaum, Kim Tannenbaum and Mitch Hurwitz. HBO has two historical miniseries in the works, cities Variety. The first titled Ida Tarbell focuses on the pioneer investigative journalist who exposed John D. Rockefeller and his Standard Oil monopoly. Harpo Films will produce and Oprah Winfrey and Harpo’s Kate Forte will executive produce and Mimosa Jones will pen the script. The other project is The Black Panthers, chronicling the history of the 1960s movement and its key players. Carl Franklin is writing and will direct; executive producers include Franklin, Jesse B. CYNOPSIS DIGITAL – TODAY’S TOP STORY: Adobe, maker of the ubiquitous Photoshop and Flash video software suites, is acquiring web analytics company Omniture, the company that provides many media companies with their internal online usage numbers, in a deal valued at about $1.8 billion. Omniture will become a new business unit of Adobe, with Omniture CEO Josh James joining Adobe as SVP, reporting to Shantanu Narayan, CEO of San Jose-based Adobe. The deal could accelerate effective measurement of interactive online entertainment properties according to Narayen, who described the deal as a “game changer.” Both companies have been struggling to maintain revenues during the recession as companies cut back on their technology spending.
