NBC shows will once again be available for download through iTunes. Since September 2007, NBC Universal and Apple feuded over pricing issues and NBCU pulled its shows off the iTunes service. Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced Tuesday that episodes of such NBC shows as Heroes and The Office will be available immediately and priced at $1.99 while hi-def versions will be $2.99 per episode. NBC classic titles will sell at 99 cents and NBC has further been given flexibility to group episodes from specific series for sale at a price to be determined.

Discovery Health will introduce viewers to the Duggars family in the new series 17 Kids and Counting October 1 at 9p. During 20 years of marriage, the Duggars from Arkansas have 17 children and one more on the way and this series will take an inside look into their family life. Figure 8 Films produces for Discovery Health.

Oxygen gets into the family lifestyle reality genre as hip-hop star and real-life dad Coolio is featured in his own series Coolio Rules. Six one-hour episodes debut October 28 at 10p which watch the musician going from life on the road to managing his four teenagers. RDF USA produces.

The Style Network and Marie Claire U.S. are teaming for a new weekly docu-series Running in Heels which will take a look at the jobs and private lives of the magazine’s female editors, writers and interns. The series is slated to debut next March and is produced by Left/Right.

WE tv’s original series The Locator premiered Saturday with two back-to-back episodes at 9p and 930p. Combined, the two episodes drew in 1.2 million total viewers.

History’s season two finale of Ice Road Truckers aired Sunday at 9p reaching 1.4 million A25-54 viewers, 1.3 million A18-49 viewers and 2.7 million total viewers

Nationally syndicated morning talk show The Daily Buzz, owned by ACME Communications unveiled a new show image, logo and website earlier this week designed by students from Full Sail University. The show offered this design contest to Full Sail students last year and received proposals from student teams representing degree programs from Digital Arts & Design, Computer Animation, Graphic Design and Entertainment Business. The winning teams were featured on the show and will get name credits on the show and on the show’s website.

Broadcast Evening News Ratings Wrap-Up: The final results for the week of September 1, 2008:
NBC: 8.23 million total viewers and 2.1/9 A25-54
ABC: 7.70 million total viewers and 1.9/7 A25-54
CBS: 5.53 million total viewers and 1.5/6 A25-54

Over the summer, Gospel Music Channel (GMC) launched on several cable systems which has added more than a quarter million new subscribers to its base. GMC now has more than 40 million U.S. homes based on distribution gains in the last 16 months. Recent launches include Comcast systems in Northern Virginia, Maryland and Alabama among others around the country.

On September 1, Outdoor Channel was added to Sky Angel’s IPTV channel lineup in standard definition on the Family Package and later will have its hi-def version and VOD offerings included.

CYNOPSIS DIGITAL – TODAY’S TOP STORY: After last year’s very public break up over pricing issues NBC Universal kissed and made up with Apple, returning to the iTunes platform just in time for the fall TV season. Most programs from NBC, USA Network, SCI FI Channel, Bravo, Sleuth and NBC News are once again available for $1.99/episode (the standard price for a TV show on iTunes.) But there also a few older shows up for 99 cents or, in some cases, free. Look for more programs to be added in the coming weeks from divisions such as Oxygen and NBC Sports. Season passes fluctuate in price from $5.94 for season one of Andy Barker P.I. to a pricey $54.99 for season one of Alfred Hitchcock Presents. NBCU programs are also available in HD for the first time priced at $2.99. Both companies positioned the reunion as a win-win. NBC gains the ability to price and package as it sees fit, not mention regaining access to iTunes’ 65 million users. Apple gets back one of its biggest program suppliers. NBC also says it is working with Apple to improve the platform’s copyright protection. Full edition: CYN DIGITAL.

CYNOPSIS KIDS – TODAY’S TOP STORY: Sorpresa, Juniper Content Corporations Spanish-language network aimed at Kids/teens 2-17, will launch on cable operator Bright House Networks in Tampa, Florida on September 15.  The cable op is adding Sorpresa to its Hispanic package, Buestros canales.    Full edition: CYN KIDS.

CYNOPSIS INTERNATIONAL – TODAY’S TOP STORY: Nat Geo Wild is being let loose by National Geographic Channels International in the wilds of France. The channel will be available on the country’s Canalsat platform from 7a-130a on the CANALSAT Family Pack, reaching 1.5 million subscriber homes.  Full edition: CYN INTERNATIONAL.
