Avoiding a potential collision between baseball and football fans in Philadelphia, the NFL announced yesterday it is switching two NFL games airing on FOX November 1, in the event the Philadelphia Phillies end up in the World Series. The New York Giants at Philadelphia Eagles game will now air at 1p and the Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers game will start at 415p. Currently, the Phillies are in the National League Championship Series and if they win, the Phillies will host Game 4 of the World Series at 8p on November 1. The NFL’s decision to flip game kick-off times on November 1 will help FOX’s broadcast schedule in addition to easing the burden on city service and law enforcement personnel who work at the two Philadelphia stadiums and parking lots shared by the two teams.

Retirement Living TV (RLTV) premieres a second season of The Florence Henderson Show Friday at 10p. During the new season, Henderson invites many friends and colleagues, such as Carol Burnett and Tom Bergeron, on her hour-long show offering viewers an insider look at Hollywood and nostalgic pop culture.

Oxygen is gearing up for a fourth season of its series Bad Girls Club on December 1 at 10p. Seven new self-described “bad girls” become roommates living together in a stunning mansion in Los Angeles while dealing with each other’s explosive personalities. The series is produced by Bunim-Murray Productions.

The 2009 City of Hope Golf Classic benefiting the Tim Nesvig Lymphoma Fellowship and Research Fund was held at the Westchester Country Club yesterday and last evening, with a multitude of luminaries from the television industry in attendance.  The evening must have easily drawn in more than $100,000 in donations thru the silent auction and the live auction with urging from auctioneer Joe Buck.  And the happy winner of The Ultimate Fan Ticket Package (you remember this one – mentioned here every year …. with 2 tickets to not one, not two, but NINE major sporting events in 2009 and 2010), was Jed Petrick – who now has more friends than he knows what to do with!  An amazing evening all the way around with speeches by Jon Nesvig and Stephen J. Forman, M.D., chair, Division of Hematology & Hemaptopoietic Cell Transplantation at City of Hope. If this event is held in the NY area again next year, you need to get yourself there.

Note from Cyn:  We’ve been hearing the buzz for years on Advanced Advertising & iTV, and we’re wondering if it’s really beginning to happen, and where that will take us in the future.  We’re trying to get to the center of the conversation and hear all sides, and would like your help to do that.  It doesn’t matter if you’re a brand, an agency, television distributor or programmer – if you have a free moment, or need a distraction, we would appreciate your thoughts on this newest ad trend, by going here and anonymously answering the questions on a short survey on the topic.  We’ll share the info with you at our CTAM Luncheon in Denver later on this month.  Thanks for your participation!

~ DISTRIBUTION, CARRIAGE & CLEARANCE ~

Independent producer and distributor of first-run syndicated TV programming, Entertainment Studios, Inc. declared the hi-def court show America’s Court with Judge Ross will launch in national broadcast and cable syndication in fall 2010. Judge Ross, at age 35, was the youngest judge to be elected in California. Throughout his career, Judge Ross was a prosecutor for eight years and a Superior Court judge for seven years. On his new show, Judge Ross will encourage litigants to responsibly deal with their unlawful acts and also will make guilty persons realize the consequences of their behavior. Entertainment Studios produces and distributes the show.

EPIX, the HD movie channel, accompanying VOD and 720p online streaming service from Lionsgate, Paramount and MGM, announced it will launch as a linear cable channel this weekend. Kicking off things will be an exclusive Madonna concert, a screening of Iron Man and an Eddie “The Riches” Izzard comedy special. So far Verizon FiOS, which has about 2.5 million subscribers, is the only provider to sign a carriage deal with the service.

~ PRODUCTION AND DEVELOPMENT ~

Michelle Forbes (HBO’s True Blood and In Treatment) was tapped by ION Television as the season two star villain for the network’s original series Durham County. Forbes begins her role next January as Pen Verrity, the brilliant though troubled forensic psychiatrist who develops a close relationship with homicide detective Mike Sweeney (Hugh Dillon).

A&E Network approved a drama pilot called The Quickening produced by Fox Television Studios starring Radha Mitchell as a female LAPD detective who also suffers from bipolar disorder. The drama is written by Jennifer Salt, executive producer on FX’s Nip/Tuck.

A third Friends alum will be back on the small screen as Matthew Perry signed on to star, co-write and executive produce a new untitled single-camera comedy produced by Sony Pictures Television, reports THR. The comedy is about a self-involved manager of an insignificant sports arena who turns 40 and begins to analyze his life. Perry developed the idea based on his own 40th birthday milestone this past August. Sony Picture TV’s Alex Barnow and Mark Firek will write the script with Perry as well as executive produce. Additionally, Thomas Schlamme will direct and executive produce and Jamie Tarses, who is credited with developing Friends for NBC, will also executive produce. Networks will be solicited this week to pick up the project. Former Friends co-stars Courteney Cox currently headlines ABC’s Cougar Town and Matt LeBlanc will star in the upcoming Showtime/BBC series Episodes.

Comedic actors Rachael Harris (In the Motherhood) and Alan Ruck (Ferris Bueller’s Day Off) were added to the cast of ABC’s Cougar Town, per EW. Harris will play Shanna, a rival of Courteney Cox’s character and Ruck will portray Shanna’s husband.

Soon after the demise of his Comedy Central show Reno 911!, the series star and co-creator Thomas Lennon will star in and co-executive produce a new comedy for NBC, cites THR. NBC gave a pilot commitment with penalty for a multi-camera comedy Lennon will write with Robert Ben Garant, his co-creator/co-star on Reno 911!. The duo executive produces the new NBC project with Peter Principato and Paul Young; Universal Media Studios produces. With Lennon starring in the project, whose plotline remains secret, Garant will play a supporting role. Furthermore, Lennon signed a talent holding agreement with NBC and Universal Media Studios that includes his show with Garant and other future projects.

CYNOPSIS DIGITAL – TODAY’S TOP STORY: Video on demand has always held tremendous advertising potential, but for some reason it has yet to make the real to-do list for most cable operators. Comcast tapped ad insertion specialist BlackArrow to add the ability to dynamically insert ads into VOD programming in its Jacksonville, FL system. Comcast is inserting standard 15- and 30-second spots as well as newly introduced 20-second spots to drive tune-in for upcoming shows and specials on PBS KIDS Sprout and FEARnet. BlackArrow’s system can be used to target and swap out spots on the fly – perfect for movie studios that need to make a last-minute push before they’re Friday openings. Full edition: CYN DIGITAL.

CYNOPSIS KIDS – TODAY’S TOP STORY: ABC will premiere Lanny and Wayne the Christmas Elves in Prep & Landing, the network’s first special produced by Disney Animation Studio, on Tuesday, December 1 at 8:30p.  Executive Produced by John Lasseter, the half-hour holiday special follows an elite high tech unit of elves, known as Prep & Landing, which makes sure that homes are ready for Santa’s arrival.  A small group of these elves, Wayne an elf passed over for a promotion, an enthusiastic rookie named Lanny, and Magee, the North Pole Christmas Eve Command Center Coordinator, work together to guide Santa and his reindeer through a dangerous storm.  The voice0ver cast includes Dave Foley, Sarah Chalke, and Derek Richardson.
