MORE KIDS STUFF

H20 will splash onto Nickelodeon with the premiere of an hour-long movie on Friday, March 14 at 8p.  The series will then take up its regular Sunday 7:30p time slot, in the TEENick block, from March 16.  H20 is a live action series about three Australian teen girls who are regular teens by land and mermaids with magic powers by sea, where they can manipulate the state of water (freeze, boil).  Produced by Jonathan M. Shiff productions, H20 is shot on location in Australia and first premiered on Nickelodeon UK in April 2007.

Imira Entertainment (f/k/a Icon Animation) heads to MIPTV 2008 next month with the 2D animated series Tangerine & Cow (78×7).  Imira acquired the rights to the K6-12 and family targeted series from Normaal Animation (except in French speaking Europe, Netherlands, Greece, Hungary and Finland).  Based on author Jacques Azam’s comic book Chico Mandarine (publisher, editions Milan), Tangerine & Cow is a co-production of Normaal and France 3.  Additionally, Imira will showcase Maga Animation’s Go! Go! Pig (52×2) and the animated comedy Rat-Man, which is based on the books series of the same name, from RAI and production company Stranemani.  Rat-Man has already been picked up by HBO Family Asia.

French animation studio Xilam inks broadcast deals for the third season of its animated series Oggy and the Cockroaches.  Picking up season three of Oggy are: Mediaset (Italy), VRT (Belgium), MTV Oy (Finland); and Noga (Israel).  Additionally, Canal + (France, pay TV broadcaster) will bow the new season in fall 2008.  Xilam will offer the new and previous seasons (total of 65×30 or 200x 7) of Oggy and the Cockroaches, which is currently in production, at MIPTV 2008.

The new live-action Speed Racer movie will be released simultaneously released in Imax and conventional theatres on May 9, 2008.  Speed Racer is written and directed by the Wachowski siblings (the Matrix trilogy), Warner Bros. Pictures is the exclusive distributor of the movie to Imax theaters globally.

MARKETING/LICENSING

Aardman Animation’s character Gromit, the canine partner of the famous duo Wallace and Gromit, will be the new face of the Kennel Club’s Good Citizen Dog Scheme, a dog training program in the UK.
