~ DISTRIBUTION, CLEARANCE & CARRIAGE ~

ShineReveille International picked up NBC’s soon-to-premiere reality series The Wanted for global distribution, cites THR. The Wanted will open on NBC July 20 and showcases an elite team of operatives who track real terrorists.

InterMedia Outdoors (IMO), the parent company to Sportsman Channel made a long-term cooperative deal with conservation group, Trout Unlimited (TU) allowing Sportsman Channel to become the exclusive home of TU’s television series On The Rise. Sportsman Channel will begin airing the program starting second quarter 2010 and production on new episodes begins yet this summer. The partnership also includes the development of a new digital platform for TU encompassing content and technology sharing, cross-promotions and marketing of TU’s website at www.tu.org .

~  PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT  ~

Bravo and Evolution Media are ready to begin production on season five of The Real Housewives of Orange County, the original version in the franchise. For the new season, housewives Tamra Barney, Lynne Curtin, Vicki Gunvalson, Jeana Keough and Gretchen Rossi will be joined by new housewife, Alexis Bellino, a 32-year old stay-at-home mom and socialite who originally hails from Hannibal, MO.

Plans are in the works to make a feature film based on the 1960s western TV series The Big Valley. Producer Kate Edelman Johnson, daughter of the TV show’s co-creator, producer Louis F. Edelman is putting the pieces in motion with an April production start date. Johnson’s and Daniel Adams’ production company, Panther Entertainment will produce; Adams also wrote the screenplay. The Big Valley originally aired on ABC from 1965-69, starring Barbara Stanwyck as the strong-willed matriarch of a ranching family and series regulars included Lee Majors, Richard Long and Linda Evans.

ABC’s new midseason mystery series, Happy Town is in discussions with Steven Weber to play a headlining role. Weber would portray John Haplin, an influential leader of the city and father of the girl kidnapped years before by the “Magic Man.” Additionally, Ben Schnetzer was added to the cast to play Haplin’s son, a wealthy teenager caught up in a star-crossed romance. ABC Studios produces the series.

CYNOPSIS DIGITAL – TODAY’S TOP STORY:  A day after HBO joined the fold, CBS became the first broadcast network to sign on to the Comcast On Demand Online trial, slated to begin in a sample of 5,000 homes across the U.S. later this month. The move is an example of a major media player reaching out to possible future revenue streams in spite of the current competitive landscape. The network’s TV.com site competes directly with Comcast.net and Fancast in the entertainment portal business; CBS is the only major broadcast network not part of Hulu; and CBS is the only network without sister, dual revenue stream cable networks. It must rely on retransmission agreements to survive, agreements Comcast has been vocally reluctant to sign.   Full edition: CYN DIGITAL

CYNOPSIS KIDS – TODAY’S TOP STORY:  Disney Channel‘s new original TV movie Wizards of Waverly Place the Movie will premiere Friday, August 28 at 8p.  Based on the network’s Wizards of Waverly Place series, the movie is chock full of special effects and follows the Russo family on a Caribbean vacation where Alex accidentally casts a magic spell that makes it so her parents never met and the quest to find the ‘Stone of Dreams’ to reverse the spell.   Full edition: CYN KIDS
