Cynopsis: Kids!
02/11/09
Good morning. It’s Wednesday, February 11, 2009, and this is your first early morning Kids briefing.
newdance kids, the kids division of newdance, which in turn is a new division of AECG (Alan Ett Creative Group), acquires the North American rights to Kids Top 20, the popular Dutch format. Targeted to K6-12, Kids Top 20 is a live-action, interactive music series that features celebrities (music, movie, TV, sports) and kid-friendly music videos. Each week, kids are invited to cast votes online for their favorite songs and artists that helps generate the Kids Top 20 Chart for that week. Guests are invited on the show based on those weekly charts. This is the first acquisition for the newdance kids banner.

Looking to increase programming sales in English-speaking countries, French animation studio Xilam appoints UK-based distributor JC Media to handle its kid content in the UK, Ireland and South Africa. Through a deal brokered by Mediacom, kids will be able to trade virtual currency on the kid-aimed social network BinWeevils.com for real Ben 10: Alien Force product within the kids’ site Swapitshop.com. Additional online activity includes a PR tie-in with the kid-targeted site MoshiMonsters.com.
TV-Loonland enters into new broadcast deals for its CGI animated property Pat & Stan (39×7, 1×30 special). Broadcasters picking up Pat & Stan include NRK (Norway), YLE (Finland), Icelandic Broadcasting Corp, TV3 (Catalunya), S4C (Wales), Jetix Europe (for the Benelux), TSR (Switzerland) and TV5 Monde (France).
