~ DISTRIBUTION, CARRIAGE, & CLEARANCE ~

The new syndicated first-run talk show Jeff Probst has been sold to date in more than 70% of the US for its fall 2012 launch, reports CBS Television Distribution.  Starring Jeff Probst, the long-time host of CBS’ Survivor, the one-hour talk show will now air in 22 of the top 25 markets.  New sales include those from station groups CBS, Dispatch Broadcast Group, Gray Television, Raycom Media, Sinclair Broadcast Group and Hearst Television among others.

Sewee Entertainment announced it will handle distribution for The Ocean Health Index, a weather news service that offers a single and scientific analysis of the world’s oceans.  The Ocean Health Index is considered similar to the “Dow Jones” report and is a service from Conservation International in collaboration with the National Geographic Society, The National Center for Ecological Analysis at UC Santa Barbara, the International Geophysical-Biophysical Program, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, The New England Aquarium and more.  The consortium will share the results of their three-year global study beginning late February 2012.  Sewee Entertainment will offer market exclusive content rights associated with the announcement of key findings.  The segments will include an initial series of 15 news reports that can be localized by news rooms and their meteorologists.  A half-hour special will also be offered featuring host Harrison Ford or the option of a station using its local host.  Sewee Entertainment expects carriage announcements for The Ocean Health Index to be made before the end of this year for a March 2012 launch.

The Live Well Network, the broadcast, online and wireless service for digital channels in local markets made two additional affiliation deals with Belo Corp.’s TV stations KING/Seattle and KSKN/Spokane.  Both stations will launch the lifestyle programming service on January 1.  The affiliation deal joins five other Belo Corp. stations as well as eight ABC O&Os, all ten Scripps Television Station Group stations and others owned by Journal Broadcasting Group, Allbritton Communications, Gannett Broadcasting, Bonten Media Group, Great Plains TV, Lilly Broadcasting, LKK Group and Quincy Newspapers.  The Live Well Network is operated by the ABC Owned Television Stations Group.

The Television Syndication Company (TVS) added a new E/I series slated to debut fall 2012.  The series, offered in hi-def, is titled Set For Life with 22 half-hour episodes.  The series highlights college students, faculty and alumni on college campuses discussing topics associated with teenagers’ making decisions on college education.  Set For Life will be paired with TVS’ E/I series, Real Life 101 with 20 half-hour episodes which will return in the fall.  Other TVS syndication shows returning include P. Allen Smith Gardens (52 eps/30 min), Ron Hazelton’s Housecalls (26 eps/30 min), For Your Home (26 eps/30 min), The FBI Files (26 eps/60 min) and how to Do Florida (13 eps/30 min).
