Cynopsis: Kids!

04/22/09

Good morning. It’s Earth Day! Wednesday, April 22, 2009, and this is your first early morning Kids briefing.

The BBC’s CBBC unveils two more new original kid/tween-targeted entertainment shows:

  • Keep Your Enemies Close (26×30)  is a new game show that brings friends and enemies together.  At the start of each show four sets of friends are split up and teamed with their ‘enemy.’  The newly mixed teams must co-operate as they compete in rounds including various physical and mental challenges. The teams are whittled down until only one duo remain for the final round, where they will then be reunited with their best friends and go head to head with their rivals.  The series is produced by BBC Productions, Children’s.
  • The School of Silence (13×28)  is a new game show that tests the ability of kid contestants to keep quiet.  Each episode pits four kids against one another as they perform challenges aimed at making them laugh, scream, shout and generally make noise  but if they make even the slightest sound … they are out of the game.  The School of Silence is produced by Lucky Day Productions.

Joining Nickelodeon in marking Earth Day, today, NYC’s Empire State Building, Chicago’s Sears Tower and Seattle’s Space Needle will help support the efforts of the network’s Big Green Help and kids nationwide by “turning off their lights” at 9p for 60 seconds, while kids simultaneously do the same by ‘Powering Down’ in their homes in a symbolic pledge of environmental consciousness.  Nickelodeon, Noggin, Nicktoons Network and The N will also cease programming for one-minute at 9p, while Nick’s HQ in NYC and LA will do the same.  Leading up to 9p, Nickelodeon will feature green-themed programming and games on-air and online respectively.  Kids can pledge real actions to help the environment online at www.nick.com/biggreenhelp.
