The Weather Channel 2013

Upfront 2013: The Weather Channel

The Weather Channel hosted its first Upfront presentation – ever. At the Mandarin Oriental in New York City, Weather Company Chairman CEO David Kenny announced five new series, three new web series, and a refresh of the network’s look. The Weather Channel and Twitter have also formed a partnership to enable video in-Tweet using Twitter cards technology. Meteorologists Jim Cantore and Maria LaRosa co-hosted the event, which was kicked off by The Human Weather Choir, who created a rainstorm using their voices and bodies. Really, it was very cool. Here’s a look at some of what the network has coming up.

New Series:
Weather That Changed The World
, which premieres Thursday, June 6, at 9p, focuses on how extreme conditions created dramatic turning points in history. (Produced by Pioneer Productions)
Storm Warriors, which debuts in August 2013, combines the power of machines and extreme conditions to show how people survive and work in the world’s worst weather environments. (Produced by WAGTV)
Strangest Weather on Earth, which debuts in September 2013, presents fascinating explorations of weird and wacky extreme weather from airborne fish to saucer clouds to a wave made of rock. (Produced by Pioneer Productions)
Freaks of Nature, which debuts in September 2013, focuses on people who possess the power to control, manipulate or conquer nature, performing feats that could harm or kill the average human. (Produced by Off The Fence)
