BET had lots to share at its event at NYC’s Ziegfeld Theatre, including three new programs: reality show Gone Gospel, game show Got Game and The Start Up, with hip hop’s Diggy Simmons making his scripted series debut.
New original movies include Let the Church Say Amen, from Regina King (Southland), The Hot Chocolate Nutcracker starring Raven-Symone and six-part mini-series Book of Negroes, with Cuba Gooding and Louis Gossett Jr. A new talker from Keke Palmer (True Jackson, VP) debuts in July.
Returning series include season eight of The Game, season three of Real Husbands of Hollywood, Being Mary Jane‘s sophomore run, and video countdown show 106 & Park, now in its 14th year.
In March, BET boasted it reached more African Americans A18-49 than any network in cable with 9.8 million viewers, and BET Networks received 19 NAACP Image Award nominations, more than any other network cable or broadcast. “We’re excited about our entire schedule, especially our original programming, our strong talk show acquisitions and our exclusive co-production deal with Queen Latifah’s Flavor Unit Entertainment to produce new content for Centric,” said Debra L. Lee, chairman and CEO, BET Networks.
Speaking of Centric, BET Networks’ 24-hour music and entertainment net, look forward to returning Being and According to Him and Her, as well as a season four of Single Ladies, Arise Entertainment 360, and specials Soul Train Awards and Centric Comedy All Stars.
