Good Morning. It’s Tuesday, September 4, 2007 and this is your first early morning briefing. Launching this morning at 9am is ABC News’ Good Morning America Now, with anchor Chris Cuomo, on ABC News’ broadband channel, ABC News Now. Online coverage begins as the onair broadcast finishes up, and will include original content, as well as contributions from Diane Sawyer, Robin Roberts and Sam Champion. Interactively, the new online show will include a Talk Back function where viewers can post their own video questions. This addition to the ABC morning schedule comes one week before NBC’s Today expands its morning show to four hours. Tonight’s Premieres: NFL.com Relaunches Site! ~ MORE GOOD STUFF ~ Quick program change … again. ABC is moving around stuff on Wednesday nights, this time moving NASCAR in Primetime back to 10p, its original time period, and repeats of Primetime The Outsiders is now on the outside again. Just for Laughs will get a double airing at 9p. To recap – 8p back to back According to Jim; 9p back to back Just for Laughs; and at 10p NASCAR in Primetime. Got it? Okay good. This schedule is only good for two weeks as on 9.19 the Come Rain or Come Shine: From Grey’s Anatomy to Private Practice special is scheduled at 9p, and new fall shows begin the following week. ESPN will introduce a new one-hour primetime newsmagazine show E:60 on October 16 at 7p, a show which will relate sports stories using a 360° concept. Each episode, shot and televised in high-definition, will feature investigative reports, sports star profiles, updates on sports innovations, emerging sports and technology, in addition to taking an in-depth look at the reporters as they focus on their stories. Viewers will watch as reporters pitch story ideas to producers, interview their subjects then interact with viewers via online blogs about their experiences in the field. Journalists who will be the primary reporters and hosts for E:60 include Jeremy Schaap, Lisa Salters, Tom Farrey, Rachel Nichols and Michael Smith, along with additional guest reporters and commentators. The annual Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon was carried on 190 stations in the US and Canada over the long holiday weekend, and as it has been every year since 1966, was hosted by Jerry Lewis for most of the 21-1/2 hours of the broadcast. Based, as usual, in Las Vegas, this year’s efforts drew in $63.7 million, up more than $3 million over last year’s broadcast. For those who have been wondering, and there have been many, BBC One has unveiled plans for the return of Doctor Who for a fifth season. And to answer the next question, yes. David Tennant will continue as the good Doctor Who when the show returns in 2009 with two specials, and season five which begins in 2010. Season #4 is set to bow in the UK next spring. 4-Day Holiday Weekend Box Office Estimates: August 31-September 3, 2007 ~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~ Production has been completed on a new reality series for Fox, currently titled Smile, You’re Under Arrest, from creator Scott Satin. The show features Arizona law enforcement officials setting up huge sting operations to catch perps. This project could be on air by midseason. Another cast update for Fox‘s 24 – Annie Wersching has been added as an FBI agent. Currently in negotiations to be added as a regular is Bob Gunton, as Chief of Staff to the new President. Gunton appeared last season in three episodes, as Secretary of Defense. Casting Call: In the midst of season two, HGTV is getting ready for season three of HGTV Design Star and is launching a nationwide search for professional and amateur designers, architects and artists who have talent, experience and on-camera charisma to host their own show on HGTV. Casting Call: FOX is looking for honest people to appear on its latest game show Nothing But the Truth. Contestants will be hooked up to lie detectors and asked to answer 21 questions. ~ EXECUTIVE MOVES ~ Tony Snow will step down as White House Press Secretary as of September 14th, a decision he says was based on financial considerations, not the return of his cancer. He will spend time working on giving speeches, a book proposal, and will do some TV and radio, tho don’t expect to find him back anchoring. Filling his shoes will be Deputy Press Secretary Dana Perino. Returning today at Court TV after a 7-week leave is Ashleigh Banfield, back in her anchor position on the daily 2 hour live show, Banfield & Ford beginning at 1p. Welcome back Ashleigh! Outdoor Channel named Bryan Adams as Executive Producer. Based in Temecula, CA, Bryan will head production efforts on more than 40 original shows for the network, and use his 20-plus years of production experience to develop new traditional sports programming. Dailymotion hired Christa Rimonneau in the role of VP/Sales. Christa has held sales and marketing positions with several CNN divisions including CNN.com and CNN TV.
