Good morning. It’s Tuesday, June 12, 2007 and this is your first early morning briefing.
Walt Disney Studios has inked a deal with India’s Yash Raj Films (YRF) to create a series of original CG animated Indian-language feature films. The movies will be co-productions and will be produced in India. Both companies will be equal partners in the venture and will contribute creative, technical and financial support to the project. The first film to be co-produced under the new partnership will be Roadside Romeo, which is set to release in 2008. The CG-animated movie will be produced by Aditya Chopra and, written and directed by Jugal Hansraj.
MORE KIDS STUFF
Decode Entertainment and VOOM HD Networks entered into a deal that will see three of Decode’s original series airing on VOOM’s kids and family targeted HD channels in the US. Decode’s new CG animated action/comedy series for K6-11, Urban Vermin (26×22′), will air on Animania HD. The Latest Buzz, the new live-action series from Decode, as well as the third season of its show Naturally Sadie will bow on Family Room HD. Currently in production for YTV (Canada), Urban Vermin is an action/comedy series that revolves around two raccoon brothers, once best friends, and no the worst of enemies. The Latest Buzz is a Tween targeted comedy, commissioned by The Family Channel (Canada), which revolves around a magazine titled Teen Buzz that decides to let five teens run the periodical.
While school is just ending for most, The N is heading to college with the premiere of The Best Years (13×60′), its first one-hour series set in a Northeast university, on Friday, June 29 at 8:30p following a new half-hour episode of Degrassi: The Next Generation at 8p. The Best Years will air on The N Fridays at 8:30p. The Best Years, from Creator and executive producer by Aaron Martin, writer/show runner on Degrassi: The Next Generation and Blueprint Entertainment, revolves around Samantha, an orphan who arrives at the school on a full scholarship, as she tries to figure out who she is and deal with other students, academics and complicated situations she finds herself in.
In other Degrassi news, production has begun in Toronto on a seventh season of 24×30′ episodes of Degrassi: The Next Generation. The new episodes are scheduled to debut on The N in fall 2007.
This week marks the premiere of BRB Internatcional’s 3D animated series Iron Kid (26×30′) on TVE2 in Spain, where the series will air weekdays at 2:40p.
