Good morning. It’s Tuesday, February 10, 2009, and this is your first early morning Kids briefing.
The reports from the weekend are confirmed as The Walt Disney Studios inks an exclusive long-term distribution deal with DreamWorks Studios to distribute all upcoming live-action motion pictures produced by DreamWorks under its partnership with Reliance Big Entertainment, which is part of The Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group. Under the deal, Disney will handle distribution and marketing for approximately six DreamWorks films each year. The first DreamWorks movie to be released under the Touchstone Pictures banner is scheduled for release in 2010. DreamWorks principals Spielberg and Snider partnered with Reliance Big Entertainment last fall to form a new motion picture company. In addition to being a partner in DreamWorks, Reliance will also distribute the new company’s projects in India.
The Force continues as Cartoon Network picks up a second season of Lucasfilm’s CG animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Slated to premiere in fall 2009, the second cycle of the series, like the first season, is comprised of 22×30. Cartoon Network will air the season one finale of Star Wars: The Clone Wars airs on Friday March 20 at 9p. Additionally, TNT launches its run of Star Wars: The Clone Wars this Saturday, February 14 at 11p following the NBA All-Star event. The series will then move to its regular home on the TNT schedule on Wednesday nights with back-to-back episodes from 10-11p.

KidMango will debut in June 2009 on MyFamilyTV as a three-hour daily block and on other platforms in the US. The new KidMango block will feature kid’s programming from PorchLight’s library of self-produced and acquired content, such as Jay Jay the Jet Plane, Four Eyes and My Goldfish is Evil. Plans also include corresponding interactive website featuring animation, games, comics, music and movies. MyFamilyTV will also air primetime specials and family films under the PorchLight Family Theater banner.
Sure the movie adaptation of author Neil Gaimen‘s graphic novel Coraline opened last Friday, but this spring the story will also debut as a musical in New York City, per the Playbill.com. A MCC Theater production, 9-year-old Coraline will be played by adult actress Jayne Houdyshell. With a book by David Greenspan and music and lyrics by Stephin Merritt, Coraline the musical goes into previews on May 7 at the Lucille Lortel Theater, where it will run through June 20
New episodes of Degrassi: The Next Generation will premiere on The N beginning this weekend. Degrassi: The Next Generation is produced by Epitome Pictures in association with CTV.
Preschoolers can be part of the mess during Nick Jr.‘s Filthy Friday programming event on Nickelodeon Friday, February 27, 9a-2p. Programming for the event features messy themed episodes of Nick Jr. shows, including all new episodes of The Backyardigans (9a), Olivia (11:30a) and Yo Gabba Gabba! (1:30p).
Adness Entertainment licenses the series Kamen Rider Dragon Knight to MediaSet (Italy). The live-action series features CGI special effects and was produced in HD by Adness Entertainment. Kamen Rider Dragon Knight is based on the original series, Kamen Rider Ryuki, produced by Toei Company.
