CYNOPSIS DIGITAL – TODAY’S TOP STORY :    MySpace is in advanced talks to acquire social music recommendations service iLike for “around $20 million,” according to TechCrunch, citing unnamed sources. iLike, which launched in late 2006 and now claims a base of 50 million registered users, tracks users’ listening habits and recommends songs based on what your circle of friends are listening to. The acquisition would fulfill the pledge of MySpace’s new CEO Own Van Natta to burnish the service’s connections to the music industry. But it would also directly compete with the social network’s MySpace Music project, a joint venture between the Fox Interactive Media subsidiary and the major music labels. iLike has raised about $35 million to date from founders Scott Banister, Bob Pittman, Vinod Khosla and Ticketmaster.    Full edition: CYN DIGITAL.
