~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~

ABC Family has a new drama in the works on the theme of mistaken identity, cites THR. The series, What Would Jane Do is about a high school outsider who lives another life as a 20-something career girl in the corporate world. The project is from executive producer Gavin Polone and writer April Blair.

LIVING, part of the LIVING TV Group based in the UK, is dipping into its first scripted drama titled Bedlam. The six-part, one-hour series stars singer/actor Will Young, Theo James, Charlotte Salt and Ashley Madekwe and is a contemporary paranormal drama set around Bedlam Heights, an apartment block converted from a pre-Victorian lunatic asylum. The construction wakes a darker side to the building with former asylum spirits coming back to seek revenge. Red Production Company is producing the series which will premiere on LIVING early next year. LIVING TV Group is owned by British Sky Broadcasting.

Canada’s Shaftesbury Films said production has commenced on the fourth season of the one-hour series Murdoch Mysteries. Production on the new season will continue through early November in the Toronto and Hamilton areas. The drama series will air in Canada on Citytv and in the UK on Alibi starting early 2011.

Univision revealed the first celebrity to be part of its upcoming reality competition series, Mira Quien Baila! (Look Who’s Dancing!) is boxing champ Hector “El Macho” Camacho. Camacho will be one of ten celebrities who will compete on the dance floor to win the grand prize for a charity of their choice. The remaining cast members will be announced on September 1.

Casting Call: A Philadelphia-based production company and a national cable network are casting restaurants for a new television show with production beginning this summer and into the fall. Restaurants to be considered should be ones that are at risk of closing and in need of an infusion of customers, good reviews and overall revenue. The restaurant owners and management will be taking advice from a celebrity chef and must be willing to restructure their menu, decor and theme to put the business on the path of success. Family run restaurants are a plus with the restaurant’s owners having strong, outgoing personalities. For more information, please call 267-514-7684.
