About six months ago I went to buy a baby gift for a friend and wanted to include the classic picture book Blueberries for Sal (Viking, 1948) by author Robert McCloskey (best known for his books Make Way For Ducklings and Homer Price) as part of the gift … but … I couldn’t find it at anywhere. Now I know why. Penguin Group, which owns Viking, and McCloskey’s estate have been negotiating a deal for some time concerning ongoing publication of the title. They have finally reached an agreement, per PublishersWeekly.com. Viking is set to print 50,000 copies of Blueberries for Sal, expected to be available in May or June. So Sal, her tin pail in hand, and her mother will soon go again to Blueberry Hill to pick blueberries again.
