Pictures Group.  Nelson, who had been President/Warner Premiere, will continue to oversee the franchise management of the Harry Potter property, as she has since 2000, as well as representing the studio’s interests with Potter author J.K. Rowling.  Levitz, who has been with DC Comics for 30+ years, will now serve as a writer and become a contributing editor and overall consultant for DCE.  Levitz has held many positions of the years at the company, including as a writer on Batman, Wonder Woman and the Superman newspaper strip.  DC Comics will celebrate its 75th anniversary in 2010.

Endemol unveils plans to grow its distribution operation with the integration of Endemol International and Southern Star International to create Endemol Worldwide Distribution.  The new global distribution arm, which will officially launch at Mipcom next month, incorporates 20,000 hours of content across various genres including kids programming, animation, game shows, drama, entertainment, comedy and reality series.  Heading Endemol Worldwide Distribution is CEO Cathy Payne, formerly CEO/Southern Star International.  Reporting to Payne will be Matt Creasey, Exec. Sales Director/Europe, both based in the London office and leading their own teams.  The new division will work out of existing Endemol distribution offices in London, Sydney and Hong Kong, with plans to open new offices this year in Paris, Madrid and Rome, followed in 2010 with new outposts in LA and Miami.

MARKETING/LICENSING

Butterfield Animation names Dimensional Branding Group (DBG) to serve as its licensing agent.  Under the exclusive deal, DBG will begin by representing Lincoln Butterfield’s animated property N.I.T.: Neighborhood Investigation Team for development into consumer products, including categories such as toys, games and apparel.  Additional projects are to be announced.  N.I.T. revolves around three friends who work as a team “solving the unsolvable, achieving the unachievable and undoing the doable.”  Lincoln Butterfield, which retains all rights to TV, film, internet and motion comics, and the first right of refusal on graphic novels, comics and other books, based on N.I.T.: Neighborhood Investigation Team, will showcase the property at Mipcom.

Big Tent Entertainment brings the Domo t-shirt licensing effort under one house in naming Fifth Sun as master t-shirt licensee for the property.  Under the long-term deal, Fifth Sun will produce and market an initial line for Domo including screen-printed and embellished tops (e.g. tees, tanks tops, thermals, fleece) for juniors, girls, young men and boys.  The line will be available in the US and Canada in January 2010.  The deal furthers Big Tent’s relationship with Fifth Sun, which includes an apparel line based on the motocross brand the Crusty Demons.
