Showtime has a new half-hour comedy series on tap tentatively titled Behind the Green Room Door set to premiere next year. The six episodes, with host comedian Paul Provenza, will allow viewers inside the “safe” inner sanctum of a green room where legendary comedians will meet and personally talk with one another. Hunter in addition to emerging new talent.

Planet Green approved the docu-series Beekman Farm (wt) as a primetime series for spring 2010. This project was previously announced in their development lineup. In each of the 10 episodes, the series follows Josh Kilmer-Purcell and Brent Ridge, a city-slicker couple who are trying to breathe life back into a farm in upstate New York with the goal to create a new organic lifestyle brand, Beekman 1802. Former 24 and Lipstick Jungle star Kim Raver is joining the cast as a recurring character on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy. Kim will play a new surgeon and likely love interest for Kevin McKidd’s character. Raver’s role begins with Grey’s Anatomy’s ninth episode on November 12.

CYNOPSIS DIGITAL – TODAY’S TOP STORY:  FCC chairman Julius Genachowski laid out a plan to reclaim additional spectrum for advanced mobile broadband applications and remove obstacles preventing the build out of advanced 4G networks at a keynote address at the CTIA conference yesterday. With smartphone penetration accelerating at breakneck speeds, the challenge will be to make the transition in a timely manner, he said. “It takes years to reallocate spectrum and put it to use. And there are no easy pickings on the spectrum chart. But we have no choice. We must identify spectrum that can best be reinvested in mobile broadband.” He also reiterated support for codifying net neutrality issues and transparency among providers, to insure informed consumers and an “open internet.”    Full edition: CYN DIGITAL.

CYNOPSIS KIDS – TODAY’S TOP STORY: Henry Selick (Coraline, James and the Giant Peach, The Nightmare Before Christmas) will not renew his deal with Laika, the Oregon-based animation studio that where he wrote, directed, designed and produced Coraline (2/6/09) and the short-film Moongirl, per The Oregonian.  You may recall that Laika laid-off 60+ of its CG animation artists in September.  Selick will continue to work closely with Laika and Coraline distributor Focus Features to continue to promote the movie during the forthcoming awards season.  Coraline is based on the eponymous book by author Neil Gaiman.  The studio, established by Nike co-founder Phil Knight after acquiring Will Vinton Studios in 2003, opened its doors in 2005 with the mission of developing both stop motion and CG animated feature films as well as content for other outlets.  Selick joined Laika in 2004.  Earlier this year, Laika named Travis Knight as President and CEO, he was a lead animator on Coraline and had also toiled for Vinton Studios, and also appointed Claire Jennings as President/Entertainment, she was a producer on Coraline and Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were Rabbit among other projects.   Full edition: CYN KIDS.
