~ MORE STUFF ~

Nielsen released its final DTV transition update before Friday’s official conversion date. In its report, 2.8 million American households or 2.5% remain completely unready. Population segments that are the most unready for the digital transition are younger African American and Hispanic households while the elderly are the most ready. Nielsen further stated among the 56 metered markets, Albuquerque-Santa Fe is the least prepared market overall with 7.6% of households completely unready while markets in the Eastern US are the most ready.

AMC is on tap to premiere season three of its drama Mad Men August 16 at 10p, with the opening episode presented with limited commercial breaks. To prepare fans for the new season, AMC will air all 13 episodes from season two in a Mad Men marathon on August 10 from 7a to 8p. Furthermore, AMC is now offering season one available On Demand in both hi-def and standard-def while season two will be offered On Demand beginning July 20. Mad Men’s pilot episode is also available now via live streaming at www.amctv.com .

A&E Network is showcasing former NFL star Keyshawn Johnson’s new career as an interior designer in the upcoming original series Keyshawn Johnson: Tackling Design. The series will join A&E’s Saturday programming block The Big Fix beginning July 11 at 12p. The eleven-episode 30m series will follow Keyshawn and his assistants as they work with clients and their budgets to design everything from a master bedroom to a gourmet kitchen. Screen Door Entertainment produces the series for A&E.

Discovery Channel opens its 22nd annual Shark Week on August 2 at 9p. The popular programming week begins with a two-hour drama, Blood in the Water relating the first multiple shark attack in American history, the true story that inspired the movie Jaws. Six premieres as well as archived shark programming will air during this summer’s Shark Week and more shark information can be found at the companion website: discovery.com/sharkweek.

Discovery Channel’s finale episode of Out of the Wild: The Alaska Experiment Tuesday night at 10p drew in 1.2 million A18-49, 780,000 M18-49, nearly 1.4 million A25-54 and M25-54 831,000 viewers.

Actor Johnny Palermo was killed Monday in a car accident in North Hollywood, per THR. He was 27. Johnny appeared in more than 30 television shows and was a regular on the Nickelodeon series Just for Kicks. He also appeared in three episodes of The CW’s Everybody Hates Chris.

Members of Screen Actors Guild (SAG) ratified a new two-year TV/theatrical deal yesterday at a margin of 78% to 22%. This new contract went into effect at 12:01a yesterday and expires June 30, 2011. A few of the deal terms include a 3% pay raise followed by a wage spike to 3.5% in the second year and a 0.5% pension and health plan contribution increase. In addition, jurisdiction and compensation for new media work were set into place for the first time, similar to what was negotiated in the DGA, AFTRA and WGA contracts last year.

~ DISTRIBUTION, CLEARANCE & CARRIAGE ~

Retirement Living TV (RLTV) made a licensing agreement with NBC for the rebroadcast rights to the Sunday morning political program Meet the Press.  The deal allows RLTV to air the weekly program after it airs on NBC and the deal represents a continuation of the relationship between RLTV and NBC that began in the last two years. RLTV will air Meet the Press on Mondays at 7p and 10p starting July 13. 

Fine Living Network (FLN) acquired the seven-episode 30m docu-series Mr. Friday from Beyond Distribution which debuts August 7 at 9p. At the behest of his wealthy, philanthropic mother, “Mr. Friday” aka former model Derek Friday, will switch roles with a hard-working and deserving person who receives his weekly trust fund check. Throughout the series, viewers will see Derek take on various tasks such as cleaning and feeding reptiles to hauling away other people’s junk.

~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~

FX approved a dramedy pilot called Terriers from writer Ted Griffin and Shawn Ryan. The plot is set in the world of private eyes about an ex-cop who teams with a younger hot-shot. Griffin and Ryan will also executive produce; Fox 21 will produce.

MTV is moving forward with a 23rd edition of The Real World which begins production this summer in Washington, D.C. and is scheduled to premiere next year. The 22nd season, The Real World: Cancun opens June 24 at 10p with eight new roommates living together in one of Mexico’s best hotels, the ME Cancun. Bunim-Murray Productions created the series and produce it for MTV.

Casting Call: Redbook Magazine is looking for couples to participate in their “Marriage Makeover” section where the couples work out marital problems with the magazine’s best therapist. Couples must agree to have their photographs taken and allow their real first names to be used in the piece. CYNOPSIS DIGITAL – TODAY’S TOP STORY:  The French Constitutional Council has overturned the French government’s controversial “three strikes” law that permits ISPs to disconnect repeat internet file sharers from the internet. The council categorized access to online communications as a “human right” that only a judge should have the power to take away from an individual. The law, the strictest measure yet drawn up to try and prevent online piracy, passed the French parliament on its second attempt in May with staunch support from the international music and film industries.   Full edition: CYN DIGITAL.

Tuesday – A18-49 Analysis: ABC made a winning pass for the A18-49 demo Tuesday night with a 3.8/11 A18-49 according to final national ratings from Nielsen Media Research. At 8p, NHL on NBC won the hour with a 2.0/7 followed by CBS’ NCIS repeat at 1.9/6. For the rest of the night, the NBA Finals on ABC scored and at 9p delivered a 4.6/14 with NBC’s NHL Stanley Cup next at 2.4/7. Then at 10p, ABC’s NBA action posted a top-rated 5.6/16 while NBC’s Stanley Cup coverage came in second once again at 3.4/10.
